"They have everything they need. They have electricity, as they should. They have warm water. They have all the things that you need and we provide for our troops, and I agree with that," he said.
Well, that's mighty big of you, John. Electricity and some water--that's enough for our guys and gals. Let's not get crazy here and give them Fruit Loops and flip flops and goodie bags with prayer rugs and Korans like we do the terrorists staying at Club Gitmo.

On Brit's show last night, it was mentioned that one of the rationales for having troops staying in satellite stations in Baghdad is so that the people will know that, when their electricity is off, the troops have no electricity either.
About the palaces - I did not hear any complaints from Murtha when Saddam was building his palaces and his people were starving. Also, as a former Marine, he should know the usual "sleeping arrangements" on military bases. The officer's quarters are a lot nicer that the barracks where the "grunts" live. Some of the officers may actually live in Saddam's former palaces, but I have seen pictures of the typical housing where the enlisted men live and a FEMA trailer would be considered an "upgrade" from them. Their quarters are utilitarian, but certainly not luxurious. How our media could be so irresponsible as to let statements like this pass is beyond me. Murtha is an idiot and a traitor - not to mention a liar!!
