Brzezinski is advancing a conspiracy theory of his own that Bush and the neo-cons and plotting a war against Iran based on some defensive pretense. He doesn't support the idea, he's just saying this to make Bush look bad.

Then, since he and Bush are part of the same conspiracy, why would he want to make Bush look bad? Serious question. Would it be that since Bush, himself is trying to "make himself" look bad, (unpopular decisions, taking matters in his own hands, ignoring constitutional law, increasing the number of troops he knows is unpopular, etc); thus making Americans turn their attention to this novel approaching Presidential election.....
