Ron Paul is a libertarian, and his vote came from principle, not cowardice. Before you flame me, note that I detest his vote on this issue. But libertarians are against all U.S. military action outside our own borders. Ron Paul is wrong, dangerously wrong in this case, but he's not a coward.
Understand I'm not defending his vote or his position on the war. But he's always been clear about his opposition to use of military forces outside the U.S., and he's always been consistent. FWIW.
That said, I've just contacted four of my own state's seven congresscritters (the other three don't have e-mail and I'll call them when I get home). I commended and promised campaign contributions to the conservatives, who voted against the resolution. I told the liberals, who of course voted in favor, that I'm deeply disappointed and will be contributing to anyone who runs against them in the next campaign.

Wisconsin To the Honorable Thomas E. Petri: Tom Your vote for Campaign Finance Reform was wrong, and now your vote for the Resolution is just as bad. That's two big strikes. The people that put you in office are not Democrats. Voting with the likes of Kagan, Obey, Murtha, and Pelosi is not the way to get re-elected. thanks

Being against military action outside of the United States IS cowardice.
I think you're trying to split hairs with Paul.
He may think he has principles, but he's a coward and a menace to the safety of the United States nonetheless, and just punched our troops in the gut with this vote.

I would never flame you...I know who Paul is. Whether the vote came from his ideological principle or from pol. expediency his actions suck...
A shameful day for our nation ...a descent into self hate and hate for the President (he can take it) but more tragically, a vote undermining the morale of our heroes.
