Hardaway's new legacy a hateful one

Clang!

The man who once went 0-for-17 in an NBA regular-season game has thrown up another brick.

Only this one didn't bounce harmlessly off the rim. Tim Hardaway's latest chuck was a brick thrown right at the gay community. What did the gay community ever do to Tim Hardaway, you ask? Uh, exist, I guess.

"I hate gay people," Hardaway announced proudly during a sports radio interview Wednesday.

Doesn't get much clearer than that. So much for love the sinner hate the sin.

Discussing former NBA center John Amaechi's revelation that he is gay, Hardaway said, "You know, I hate gay people, so I let it be known. I don't like gay people and I don't like to be around gay people. I am homophobic. I don't like it. It shouldn't be in the world or in the United States."

The world or the United States? Man, we haven't seen this kind of tough talk against homosexuality since Reverend Ted Haggard's pre-suspensions sermons.

So everyone in the entire world has to give the gays their blessing? I, for one, don't think so.

Some people aren't cowed by political correctness and speak their minds openly. So what if he hates gays for whatever reason. Maybe he's had some bad experiences with some. I can deal with that. They can't.

i read a verse in the Bible recently where Jesus said something like 'you will see tax-collectors and prostitutes entering the kingdom of heaven before you'.

he also said this as a warning to all the holier-than-thou types. humility, not arrogance.

I think the only ones who really care are the media!!!! They are so into this it is crazy... Although hypocrites are even worse. I can't believe that Haggard had so much attention that he even lost us some seats. I wish that everyone would just shut up about it. That is what upsets me so much when people here always make fun of people like that exercise guy who lost a bunch of weight, who appears to be gay, but keeps his mouth shut. It seems even FREEPERS want to know who is gay and who is not. Very strange in my opinion.

Oh yeah, FREEPERS want Richard Simmons to come out of the closet so bad. Don't ask me why but they are constantly talking about him for some reason. FREEPERS are as bad as the media when it comes to the need to know who is gay or not. Weird is all I can say.

You aren't "allowed" to hate Commies in America these days. It is only politically correct to hate Republicans.

They're like Nazis. < /S >

Gay men in locker rooms = pedophiles in schools. Just my opinion.

Just a lot of really nasty and obscene sexual remarks every time the word gay or homosexual is mentioned."

That's because gay or homosexual IS really nasty and obscene.

I think if I were black, I would have a particular problem with the homosexual "community," due to their trying to align themselves with blacks as similar to themselves with a "minority" status. As though ethnicity and sexual behavior were equivalent.

It shouldn't be in the world or in the United States."

The opposite to that statement is, it should be in the U.S. and the world. But why? Why should it be allowed to exist anymore than any other virus or illness that we're trying to rid the world of.

Your're right, he didn't just blatantly say he hated gays, it wasn't until they called him a homophobe. He over and over again stated it would be uncomfortable in the locker room and a distraction. He wasn't ugly about it either, he was matter of fact. To me the media made it sound like he was on some sort of tirade.

It's really none of your business what someone else thinks about sex.

"Well, Hardaway should be very popular on Freeper...Not much 'hate the sin, love the sinner " here. Just a lot of really nasty and obscene sexual remarks every time the word gay or homosexual is mentioned.

I agree with you that some remarks on here are hateful, but I hope that you
don't believe that anyone who opposes the gay rights agenda is hateful.
There has been a deliberate effort by the gay rights movement to portray opponents as basically evil. Painting "them" as evil leaves one with a feeling of self-righteousness. It boils down to this: me good, you bad. It's not a particularly useful basis for discussion.
See:
http://www.parentsrightsusa.com/Overhauling%20of%20Straight%20America.htm
"The Overhauling of Straight America" (noted above) was expanded in 1989 into a book, "After the Ball: How America will conquer its fear and hatred of Gays in the 90s" by Kirk and Madsen. Here are some excerpts.
Proposed advertisements in their media campaign "can depict homophobic and homohating bigots as crude loudmouths and assholes -- people who say not only 'faggot' but 'nigger,' 'kike,' and other shameful epithets -- who are 'not Christian." It can show them being criticized, hated, shunned. It can depict gays experiencing horrific suffering as the direct result of homohatred - suffering of which even most bigots would be ashamed to be the cause. It can, in short, link homohating bigotry with all sorts of attributes the bigot would be ashamed to possess, and with social consequences he would find unpleasant and scary. The attack, therefore, is on self-image and on the pleasure in hating...
"Note that the bigot need not actually be made to believe that he is such a heinous creature, that others will now despise him, and that he has been the immoral agent of suffering. It would be impossible to make him believe any such thing. Rather, our effect is achieved without reference to facts, logic or proof. Just as the bigot became such, without any say in the matter, through repeated infralogical emotional conditioning, his bigotry can be alloyed in exactly the same way, whether he is conscious of the attack or not."

No one seems to care about the left and their hate for our President why do we care if Hardaway hates gays? Why did the gay guy feel the need to let us know anyway? I don't give a damn! I don't run around telling people I'm a hetero! gays think they are so special like big mouth Rosy who is so full of hate it consumes her. Leave Hardaway alone. Last time I looked he is supposed to have the freedom of speech the left has!
