Those tempted to gloat would be well advised to remember that it is very easy to end up in slam in the United States, even if you're 100% innocent.

The part in bold may be one of the dumber things I've ever seen posted here.

You must live in a different United States than the one I live in.

On the other hand consider the justifiable outrage here at the 2 border patrol agents currently locked up.

Hardly, I ended up in Allston, MA (Boston) jail for 12+ hours on a case of looking vaguely (very tall, big, beard) like the guy who robbed a taxi.

I'm a large guy (almost 300lbs, very tall and solid), but I am also a Jewish guy, and being the guy with the kippa (which they took and threw away) in a Boston jail overnight was not a fun deal.

Then you must not read your own posts. Ever heard of the Texas Three?

If you've had any dealings with the court system, you would know that innocent people do go to prison. Prosecutors in this country are corrupt.

Regardless, a DUI convict does not deserve to be raped and destroyed for life.

You need to do your homework, Mr. Cool.

My family has a friend who was wrongly accused of rape by his very messed-up daughter. This man was entirely innocent, a good church-going fellow who loved his family and had never been in trouble with the law. His teenage daughter went off to college in another state and was basically brainwashed. She concocted lie upon lie about what her father "did" to her when she was living with him.

Her word was enough to get this man arrested and thrown into a big city jail, where he remained for weeks while his lawyer and family tried to get him out. Eventually, his daughter recanted everything and admitted she made it up. In the process? This man's life was destroyed, his career ruined -- and who knows what unspeakable horrors he faced while behind bars.

So I think YOUR ignorance is what's dumb.

Here in Georgia, we just had a man released from prison because DNA exonerated him from a rape conviction. He served 21 years. It does happen.

Actually, it is a very accurate statement. Odds are you won't be, but odds are you won't be killed in a car accident either. It's just about as preventable.

I personally know of 2 innocent people (a man and a woman) who were threatened with sexual assault while in jail on false charges. They were both emotionally traumatized and in both cases, it was just the threat of rape. This is no joke.

I think it's reasonable to argue that any prisoner who is convicted of committing rape while incarcerated, ought to get the death penalty.

No, it isn't. I suggest you read "The Myth of Male Power" by Warren Farrell. You will discover that if a woman (or girl) accuses you of rape, you must essentially prove your innocence or you could be put away. Evidence is optional.

The way prisons let male rape go unchecked is beyond disgusting. What kind of idiots run our prisons?

I disagree- during my divorce I was jailed twice for doing nothing

Both times it was on nothning but the word of my diagnosed psychopaht ex-wife, and thank GOD I was able to prove both charges were false, or I could be sitting in jail right now.

In one instance she claimed I hit her in the head, but I was able to prove I was not even home at the time, and that she had filed 4 different contradictory statements.

After I proved she had filed false charges they even refused to arrest or prosecute her for it, until I filed a writ of mandamus to compel them to do their jobs.

The next time the child support collection agency processed my payments incorectly, and creditted them to the wrong account. I though nothing was wrong because I saw the payments deducted from my checks. She retreived the mail warning me that my license woul be suspended if I did not pay. After it was suspended she called the police and told them I was driving on a suspended license, so I was arrested.

So as you can see it is VERY EASY to go to jail for NOTHING in this country. Especially in a court system whenre a mother can do no wrong and a father can do no right.
