PRINCETON, NJ -- As former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani inches closer to a formal declaration of his candidacy for the 2008 Republican nomination for president, the challenge he faces among Republicans with his support of abortion rights and same-sex civil unions is clear in a recent USA Today/Gallup Poll.
Giuliani is extraordinarily well-liked and respected by the American public. He also ties with or leads Arizona Sen. John McCain as the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination in recent Gallup polls. At the same time, his views on abortion and same-sex civil unions are unknown to most rank and file Republicans. Once informed of Giuliani's positions, a sizable minority of Republicans say they would reconsider their support for the otherwise popular and well-respected Republican luminary.

I have read every post on this thread. The article is about how Rudy Giuliani loses support when his positions on abortion and gay marriage are revealed. You posted zilch to that. Classic thread hijack.
When everything is simmering on the back burners worldwide in a stable detante rather than at a full boil where people are actively trying to kill us, rather than merely undermine our way of life.
When we aren't under attack, we can look at the other pressing issues of the day. But when the enemy is in our face, then that is the overriding demand.

You want the name of my lawyer so you can sue me?
Or should I draw in crayon that I don't have an opinion on who I would vote for in the primaries, but here is how I feel today about the two issues that make others say they would not vote for him based on this.
So we can't fight terror and not sign gun control legislation at the same time? We can't hold down domestic spending during the WOT?
I've heard similar explanations before, and quite frankly they sound like excuses to me.
Your logic is really twisted. I've never seen a sentence that so fully illustrates the old saying 'throwing the baby out with the bathwater'. If this is how you feel then you should be on your soapbox telling us what Jesus would do to stop child abuse. I can guarantee you you He wouldn't say murder the child before it's born so it doesn't have to endure being unwanted and abused and grow up to damage society.
Every law we pass is based on a moral judgement of choices that other people make. Taking the phrase 'judge not, lest ye be judged' out of it's Biblical context and using that as an argument that Jesus would post this is ludicrous.
You seem to believe that every person that is pro-life is a religious nutcase trying to force their religious views on other people. I don't have to wave my Bible to prove that abortion is wrong. I can wave a science book because all the proof you need that a fetus is a living human being is contained in them. I don't want to live in a society that allows innocent living human lives to be snuffed out in an abortion clinic.
Yes, if abortion is out-lawed and a woman chooses to go to a filthy back alley snuff clinic to murder her child, that choice will be on her, not me, but as the law stands right now, our society condones these murders and the blood is on all of hands.
THE INITIAL QUESTION WAS ABOUT SAVING THE UNBORN VS SAVING THE CURRENTLY LIVING.
I'm not about to vote for any feckless politician who can't handle the crisis the world is in just because he's pro-life.
And I'm not going to eject a proven leader, particularly if he's far beyond anything else worth consideration, because he isn't.
Bring me someone else worth considering and I will consider it.
Ed Koch voted for Bush. Ed Koch agrees with Pres George W. Bush on ONE SINGLE ISSUE, but that was enough to overcome all the other concerns of the otherwise self-proclaimed "liberal with sanity".
I don't expect Rudy to go to Washington and start signing Gun Control legislation his first day on the job. Hell, he can't unless the people elect more Dems and spineless RINOs to write the legislation in the first place.

Conservative with sanity
I am not saying have an abortion.
Fix that law if you don't want abortion.
Currently, psychological abuse is NOT a crime. Can we get THAT criminalized? Or is that asking too much?
You apparently missed the parts where I already know that scinece proved that the embryo is living. You also missed the part where the focus should be on adoption and not seeing the roto rooter man.
Can you, personally, change the law? Can Rudy? Can anyone? My guess is probably not. So why not focus on alternatives to abortion and push those?
How about Rudy's ultimate electability when Republicans know what he actually stands for?
Unless Rudy can turn that around, you're right. But you're also missing that like Reagan, who got a LOT of Democrat and Moderate votes, so will Rudy.
Well ... I'm on a life raft ... trying to escape the Titanic. Rearranging the deck chairs with the same rotten stuff is not the solution.
Did you ever watch Schoolhouse Rocks? "I'm just a bill on Capitol Hill"? Our laws are not set in stone and I am trying to fix that law. No, I'm not a lawmaker, so I can't personally change the law, but I can protest a law and work with other like-minded individuals within the system to have my elected officials change the law. This law can be changed and I'll continue to work for it to be changed and that does not rule out working to increase awareness of alternatives to abortion at the same time. I can multi-task. I'm not going to stick my head in the sand and say outlawing abortion is too hard so I'm not going to even focus on it.
Having said that, my objections to Guiliani as a candidate go far far beyond the abortion issue. I'm tired of being labeled as a 'one issue' voter when I voice my opinions about Guiliani's views. I feel like we are being manipulated to look like one issue loons sometimes. This is just one issue and there are so many more issues where Guiliani and the average conservative voter part ways.
Can't find it. Post the link
Unlike Reagan, Giuliani is a radical leftist.
See you are posting the same crap on two threads at least. With no backup or any specifics.
