PRINCETON, NJ -- As former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani inches closer to a formal declaration of his candidacy for the 2008 Republican nomination for president, the challenge he faces among Republicans with his support of abortion rights and same-sex civil unions is clear in a recent USA Today/Gallup Poll.
Giuliani is extraordinarily well-liked and respected by the American public. He also ties with or leads Arizona Sen. John McCain as the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination in recent Gallup polls. At the same time, his views on abortion and same-sex civil unions are unknown to most rank and file Republicans. Once informed of Giuliani's positions, a sizable minority of Republicans say they would reconsider their support for the otherwise popular and well-respected Republican luminary.

If it is that left wing, teh Rudy won't get nominated, end of story and that will teach him.
What is that, about ten million voters? Hmmm...I guarantee that at least that many will bail on the GOP if it decides to pick a nominee that agrees with Hillary Clinton on most everything.
And that is a huge chunk of votes.
How about if 50 million 16 year-olds were killed in your country? Would you "get yourself all worked up?"
Or a million and a half kindergartners this year were shot through the head? Would you "get yourself all worked up?"
How about if 4000 40 year-old mothers were ripped limb from limb and killed today, their skin burned off of them by saline solution while they were still alive? Would you "get yourself all worked up?"
The only difference between them and a child in the womb is time and maturity. That's it.
Legal or not, I won't do it.
Legal or not, others will. I can't choose for someone else. In the end, the choice is still theirs, whether they do it legally or not.
So, if it is wrong enough, Roe v Wade will get overturned and then those that choose to do so will be punished in both life and death. Currently, those that choose to do so definitely get punished in death if they can't reconcile with their maker, some are punished in life and that is part of the process of trying to reconcile with their maker.
In the ned, the choice for me to not have the battle with their maker in my head is my personal choice. In the event that it becomes criminalized and I am on jury duty, I will assume that the individual is innocent until proven guilty and see what happens. I would imagine that most that would have an illegal abortion and get caught would just plead and get sentenced.
Of all the battles for one to have between their ears, this is the one that I least prefer to have, especially if it is a battle that belongs between the ears of one that wants an abortion. Frankly, one that wants that right must first get pregnant in order to have that battle between the ears to commence.
If there were more advocacy for adoption instead of whether or not an abortion is legal, maybe women would be more inclined to follow Christ's way instead of focusing on themselves.
Christ's way is to not have sex with a man who won't take responsibility for any children produced.
I am not screeching. I simply put my thoughts out and did my best through all of my posts to make sense of my thoughts.
That ship has sailed, my FRiend.
It isn't left wing. It is an "I can't crusade into the lives of all that choose to kill and I am not going to get myself all worked up over their poor and selfish choice" view. \
Hey, we can't stop murderers, rapists, armed robbers or con artists either. Lets just make everything legal and there will be no more crime.
At Post 35 you said, "While I personally would never have an abortion for my own moral reasons, I won't impose it on anyone else."
How do you reconcile your two statements?
I stated that those two issues alone would not turn me against a candidate. I would rather wait for all candidates and all positions. Unfortunately, there are so many issues to debate and it all comes down to which ones (issues) determine the greater good. It could be that his views are to prevent himself from being everyone's conscience in all issues. It could be that he draws a line as to how far into the individual minds of the people he gets with what they should be individually choosing.
"I, personally, cannot reconcile EVERYONE back to Christ. For my personal sanity, I deal with what I can on a day to day basis and choose to not get my intestines in a knot over all of the ones I cannot change."
Of course not, only the Holy Spirit can do that. We are God's chosen instrument to communicate to others His love, grace and mercy, but we also have a responsibility to be the light in this dark world. That involves letting people know of God's moral laws and defining to people what the Bible says about sin. You obviously are already doing that with your family, that's where it all begins. Well, I could go on and on here, but it seems we have kind of gotten away from the subject. By the way, I agree with the rest of your post about adoptions, but in the eyes of God life is equally precious, whether it be outside the body, or in. God bless!
Then please stop. Pretty please.
You keep posting those pictures.
Did you know that there are some freepers out here who have no idea who the other guy is?
Well, neither was anybody else, any more than you were. I was simply highlighting the derogatory way you were trying to represent prolifers.
Currently, my niece is pregnant and she is a senior in high school. Maybe she chose to rebel because her father died seven years ago, but at the same time, her mother taught her enough values that she would never dream of having an abortion and is actually excited about the life that she and her future husband created.
I can't teach someone that only values their own life that abortion is wrong. I can't make the government change the law, but I can hope that people see that every life is valued.
Describing an abortion to me doesn't change somoene else's mind about the value of life.
Unfortunately, many that have abortions realize the value of life after it is too late. Hearing from those that regret it would probably make a bigger difference in getting things changed. Most just suffer in silence. So how does one change that?
Christ's way is to not have sex with a man who won't take responsibility for any children produced.
It also helps if these men are taught self-control.
Your entire post is a complete copout.
