IRAN has built "suicide" drones capable of attacking US naval ships and forcing them to leave Gulf waters, said a Revolutionary Guards commander quoted by the semi-official news agency Mehr.
"We have built birds without passengers (drones) that can carry out suicide operations on the US Navy, at any depth if necessary, to make them leave the region in disgrace," said Ali Shoushtari, deputy commander of the Guards' land forces.

Aprox 5000 sailors killed, plus 5000 wounded due to Kamikazis. Yet America fought on despite it to utterly defeat Japan.
Can we imagine if, God forbid, Iran were to luck out and take out one of our CVNs, what we would hear from the gutless left and MSM? With 5,000 dead and 5,000 wounded Naval losses would we fight on to defeat Iran? With the cut and run crowd we have now, I doubt it.
Good response! I can't stand some of the blinder fools around who mistake intelligent caution/plan for the worst approaches as being somehow 'pro-enemy'. I'm a firm believer in assuming your enemy's capacities may be greater than you expect.
Yes I don't get it either.
Define "advantage." I think the Iranians have the power to damage or destroy a US aircraft carrier battle group operating in the Persian Gulf. I also think that in any armed conflict, US casualties would be lower than Iranian casualties. But that's not really the point -- the destruction of a carrier battle group (regardless of the cost to Iran) would be a huge psychological defeat for the US. What I think is more likely is that the Iranians could force carrier battle groups to operate so far out in the Arabian Sea, that their ability to operate effectively over Iran would be generally negated.
I don't share you're pessimism on this subject.
Ahh! I see.
And there is a very good chance that Putin will step in against if this this one goes down IMO.
against = against us
WWII suicide bombing was ineffective mostly due to the numbers of ships involved (as you point out) but as a true weapon it was only a distraction.
I do agree with you though that the confined space of the Gulf is a serious problem. The carriers need to stay clear of that tight area which would also keep them away from limited range anti-ship weapons. I am not minimizing the Iranian threat but at some point we will get pissed enough to take out everything in Iran. Dem traitors aside.

Nuke 'em!
In 1959, we had a big muckety-muck from the Japanese railroad as a guest in our home. I'd been to Japan 2 years earlier on a trip around the world with my grandparents and picked up some Japanese words and phrases.
The guy was impressed with that, and informed me that during WWII, he had been trained and volunteered to be a Kamakazi pilot. The day before he was scheduled to fly and attack American ships, the emperor announced the end of the war.
The day prior to that his best friend in training had lopped off his pinky finger on his left hand and given it to him to remember him by and flown off on his mission. He told me that all of the pilots he trained with were committed to dying for the emperor, that it was the accepted thing to do.
Where ever it is launched from there will be the people who fired it, and maybe even guiding it and tracking it. Those people will be the martyrs once the retalitory strike arrives.
Agreed. You don't want to underestimate their technology or the will of their military to fight back if they feel they are defending their country from attack.
Hopefully our President with his advisors, and our military, are all working on a plan.
If God-forbid, we do go after Iran militarily, I don't think Iran will be the relative cakewalk that Iraq was.
