Do we as a people choose dependence on a bigger, and ever-more-intrusive government? Or do we choose self-reliance, recognizing that we know better than government how to spend our money, raise our children, provide for our families.
If you want to know more about what Duncan Hunter believes, here it is.
bump for later read.
Here's one of my favorite Hunter links:

Go Hunter!
He's my man; has been for some time.
Oh no! A vote for Duncan Hunter would mean you are pro Hillary clinton....

GO DUNCAN HUNTER!

Greetings seanmerc:
It would have been interesting if Representative Duncan Hunter was a choice for the Hanity & Colms (sp) text message poll.
Needless to say, I wouldn't waste $0.10 voting for RINO Rudy, insane McCain or the-other-flip-flop-Masshole Romney.
Cheers,
OLA
On all but "national security" he's a carbon copy of Patrick J. Buchanan.
I wonder how many FReepers realize that?
Check my tagline ping!
Frankly, Hunter's conservative credentials notwithstanding, I still lean toward a more experienced individual - meaning someone with Gubernatorial leadership, and a high profile among the centrist/conservative folk in the GOP, someone who is a proven fundraiser, and an established party loyalist - maybe even with a military record.
I am specifically thinking of {former} two term Montana Governor Marc Racicot. As a former Army Cap't., and past Atty General before taking the Governor's post, he is a definite law and order type. Not to mention he is a staunchly Pro--life Catholic who would {I believe}rightly garner the support of every Pro-Life Catholic in the US.
Think of all the votes such a candidate could poach from the East-coast Catholic pro-life Dems who felt conflicted about voting for J eFfin' Kerry...
Having a candidate who meets a key array of conservative litmus tests is important and potentially valuable, but having someone recognizeable that has enough high office experience is even moreso. Hunter may look good, or even great right now to a GOP that is hungering for a credible and principled conservative, but he is not and should not be electable, absent that experience.
To the point, I will not vote for him in a statewide primary -- unless he is the ONLY GOP candidate on the slate who even resembles a conservative. It is not a reflection upon his character, only an understanding of the political realities of our time.
Every single conservative voter on this thread ought to ask themselves this reality check question:
WHO was the last man elected to the Presidency that was not first the Governor of a state, previous Vice President, or US Senator? {Bush, Clinton, Bush 41, Reagan, Carter, Nixon, Kennedy..}
Yep General Dwight D. Eisenhower - who had an inarguably higher profile in the U.S. after his WWII service as Supreme Allied Commander.
Not a good subject for comparison for purposes of pointing to a modern political precedent. I didn't know Dwight D. Eisenhower, but I feel comfortable in asserting, ala Lloyd Bentsen to Dan Quayle, that Duncan Hunter is "No Ike..."
McCain has been too shifty for me, Giuliani is not acceptable whatsoever, Romney is a good man, but seems calculated and time has yet to tell. Brownback alarms me, Tancredo is viewed as an extremist by even "centrist" Dems {is there such a thing in the DemoRat party?} and would be vilified by the MSM..
Huckabee of Arkansas is worth consideration, but whether he can generate enough interest [read: campaign donations] is an open question. That almost defaults to Racicot, my personal favorite - and not only because I have met and spoken with him on several occasions at statewide GOP events.
Racicot has been a tireless and enormously effective fundraiser for the National GOP, a party and GW Bush loyalist...
The one wildcard would be whether or not Dick Cheney, after surveying the primary landscape, throws his hat into the ring. He has the benefit of being a sitting Vice-President and having been the Wyoming Gov. Heck - many of the "Black helicopter" DhimmiRats think he has been the "real" President the past seven years anyway...
Why not make it "official"?! That would really bring on gnashing teeth, foaming mouths, and full-blown radical- lefty-rioting in the streets, anti-Halliburton dementia!!
LOL!
Problem is - a good ticket needs to cut across electoral/ regional lines, so two Rocky Mountain western state Governors on the ticket would not be ideal.
IMHO, the best option would be Cheney/Huckabee, Racicot/Huckabee, or perhaps Racicot/Hunter/ or Racicot/Pence...
Any of the above pairings would be plausible, viable in more ways than one, and befitting the true nature of the GOP
"Nobody wins the presidency without winning South Carolina," Hunter said.
Hunter already has some deep-pocket allies in the state, including textile magnate Roger Milliken, who supports Hunter's promise to protect U.S. manufacturers threatened by cheap, overseas labor."

Duncan Hunter has a problem with name recognition and he is
running advertisement change name recognition problem.
Glenn Beck just highlighted another illegal alien who committed countless murders and rapes in California. The "undocumented worker" was deported at least nine times, but kept coming back across the border.
Someone like Duncan Hunter would put an end to this.
Just some background info on Hunter and his outspoken nature to go where not many(I don't think any) Republicans go with their spineless nature.
Hunter on Abu Ghraib(courtesyhttp://www.larouchepub.com/other/2004/3128goss_hunter_block.html : )
Probably the single loudest obstructionist voice in the House of Representatives in support of the Cheneyac "Beastman" policy in Iraq has been Armed Services Committee chairman Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.). Hunter has been able to use his position to block any meaningful inquiry into the Abu Ghraib prison scandal and at every public opportunity, has railed against those who are demanding such an investigation. He even went after his GOP counterpart in the Senate, John Warner (Va.), for holding three hearings in two weeks on the scandal, practically accusing Warner of treason.
Under great public pressure, Hunter has since held one hearing, for part of one day, and has no intention of having any more. During debate on the Fiscal Year 2005 Defense Authorization bill, on May 19, Hunter declared, "We have had enormous publicity the last number of days about the mess at Abu Ghraib. I estimated we have probably devoted as much media attention to that mess involving now, as identified, some seven personnel, as we did to the Normandy invasion. And that is an imbalance. It is time to refocus." What did he want to refocus on? "The 135,000 great personnel doing their job in Iraq."
On June 14, when the committee took up a resolution of inquiry sponsored by some 40 Democrats, demanding the Pentagon be more forthcoming with documents relating to the prison scandal, Hunter placed the 6,000 pages of the report on the abuse and torture of prisoners filed by U.S. Army General Anthony Taguba (the Taguba Report) on a table at the head of the hearing room and railed at the Democrats, "Isn't that enough for you?"
Hunter on Guantanamo(courtesy http://washingtontimes.com/upi-breaking/20050613-033125-4935r.htm:)
California Republican Duncan Hunter held a press conference to discuss the treatment of detainees at the island jail, and spent his opening statement going over a daily menu for prisoners that included oven-fried chicken and fresh fruit.
"This is what Osama bin Laden's bodyguards will eat several times a week. Lemon chicken, rice, broccoli, carrots, bread and two types of fruit," Hunter said, inviting a reporter to come eat with him.
Hunter was digging himself out of small hole he got into over the weekend when he said on a news program that the White House is divided over whether to close the jail.
"I think they've come to the conclusion, some members of the White House have come to the conclusion that the legend now, that the legend is different than the fact, and when that's the case you go with the legend that somehow Guantanamo has been a place of abuse and you close it down and you shorten the stories, you shorten the heated debate and you get it off the table and you move on," he said.
Hunter is our guy. The rinos wont get the south as we down here in the south are getting real tired of the northeast libs of both parties. The battle rages on within the republican party. GO DUNCAN HUNTER!
Bookmarked bump!
If you are a conservative you have to be for Duncan Hunter. He is straight forward and has tons of common sense, something severly lacking in our goverment right now. The mainsteam media and all of the pundits are pushing RINOs, chamelian politicians who will change their stances just to win. I am so tired of these smiling actors who do nothing but tell you what you want to hear and promise you the world. I want someone who is proud to be American, that truly believes we are the best, I cannot stand the thought of a globalist.
Please explain why he is electable. I am serious. I want you to lay that all out for me.
