Norway has the best standards of life as a nation.

Not at all. Norway average individual income is similar to that of average individual income in the US around $ 40,000 and both nations are ranked second in the world in average individual income after the tiny little state of Luxemburg. However, in Norway and in Luxemburg for that matter, the taxes are higher than in the US and almost everything is more expansive than the US, so the purchasing power in the US is higher and hence this gives the US the “best standards of living” in the world.

PS: There are 4.6 million people who live in Norway and another 465000 people who live in Luxemburg, in the US there are 7.5 million individuals who are "Millionaires". :)

The average income is not a measure of the wealth of a nation.

The median would be good but isn't enough.

Example: If Togo had one Bill Gates they had a better avarage income then the US.

Would that mean that theres less poverty in Togo then in the US?

If I was a millionair I'd maybe consider living in San Diego. Maybe during winter in germany.

But - if'd be a dead poor mexican I'd go there too.
