President Bush honored the 2006 NHL Stanley Cup (hockey) Championship Carolina Hurricanes at the White House. Secretary of State Rice hosted a meeting of "the Quartet" to discuss events in the Middle East.

National Security Adviser Hadley conducted the press briefing today, discussing the National Intelligence Estimate (NIE), text and video here. The NIE is "an effort to bring together all the elements of the intelligence community and come out with a consolidated set of judgments about the situation in Iraq." It is a new document, provided to the president to develop a new strategy or new approach to Iraq.

Laura Bush promoted heart health awareness by attending the Red Dress Heart Truth fashion show in New York.
