How many sitting Congressmen have even gotten the GOP nomination since Garfield?
None I believe, but the field this time out is very different than the fields in the past. In most elections you would have a popular governor running and/or a former VP. The closest we have to that is a governor from a liberal North Eastern state with little name recognition. This far out it really is a toss-up for the nomination. My guess is that the 3 front-runners will barely be on the radar screen by the time Iowa comes around.
