If you "get rid of them" then you won't have much of a party left. Gallup numbers show that on average 39% of the population describe themselves as Evangelical/Born-Again.

And that doesn't even count us traditional Catholics with our 3+ kids per family....

Maybe someone needs to ask the question, "If Hunter does get the nomination, how many of these Rudy McRomneyites will swallow the bile they have been spewing and vote for him?"
I don't think any of Hunters critics here would have any trouble voting for him in the general election. Most of them like him and his politics (except the protectionism claptrap) more than they like the politics of Rudy/Mitt/John who they are supporting. They are not attacking Duncan Hunter The Man they are attacking Duncan Hunter the Presidential Candidate. Should the Lord descend on high in his flaming chariot and by his miraculous powers get Duncan Hunter nominated I'm sure 99% of Freepers will vote for him. At which time they should then all pray for a second miracle in the general election.
Duncan Hunter is great guy but his supporters need to face the fact that as a Presidential candidate he is nothing more than Newt without the name recognition, grass roots support, or fundraising ability. And since even Newt knows his candidacy is not really going to happen where does that put Hunter?

He scares the Rockefeller/Country club wing of the party. I like that.So do terrorists and a collapsing economy. Vote for Hillary if that makes you happy.

Good point. I don't disagree that he has a major uphill battle, but we're still gonna fight every step of the way to make it happen. Who knows, God's done miracles before. ;-)

"If Hunter does get the nomination, how many of these Rudy McRomneyites will... vote for him?" I would wager every single one of them will vote for the GOP nominee, because they know the alternative is unthinkable.
Hunter's district is next door to mine. We are stuck with smarmy Bob Filner.
So we've always seen Hunter shine, and now the rest of the nation can, too.

I wouldn't be in such a hurry to bad mouth all Christians if I were you. I don't believe that most of us don't vote our religion anyway. I almost did back in '76, but good sense got the better of me, not that it mattered much.
If Giuliani, McCain, or Romney took the nomination I'd vote for them over Hitlery, but I'd be holding my nose the entire time.

There are a group on here that put party over principle. I'm sure there's some that would vote for Satan himself if he had an (R) next to his name.

Please give us a modicum of credit. We understand the long hard road facing Duncan Hunter. But we are willing to work for him during this primary season. Isn't that what politics is about and especially the primary season. To find a candidate you believe in and give him your support.
Trust me, I do not need 100 posts on every Hunter thread to remind me of the situation. I am hoping that a strong grass root effort and the tools provided to us by the new media will ignite his candidacy.
You are sure that it won't. Okay... azcap is sure it won't. I would at least like the freedom to try. If I fail, then I go down swinging knowing I did all I could to get him nominated. I don't know what that is so hard for you to understand!

How many of them will really work to get him elected, rather than sit back after the election and say "I told you so?"

Your stumping for the Rockyfeller/Countryclub wing of the party with all that RINO sophomoric sophistry to vainly try to eliminate any competition to your Giuliani/Romney/Gingrich/McCain slate of already worn out un-candid candidates!!!
Stick to promoting those you prefer and quit goin around knockin those you don't. Show some class for once, will ya?

I don't care how good his views might be. When you consider that he wrote over $100,000 in bad checks, during the "House Bank Scandal" it becomes clear the doesn't have the character we need in a President.

Yes it does... If you strip out all of the pro-life voters since Roe/Wade, IKE would have been our last Republican president...

I've already been watching him. I'd like to hear him in front of a live mike having to deal with the media.
I'm interested in his vision for the nation.
