The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

It isn't the report, just the political summary. Doesn't anyone pay attention to what's actually happening?

The media seem to be operating under the misapprehension this is equivalent to the release of IPCC Working Group I Contribution to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Fourth Assessment Report: Climate Change 2007: The Physical Science Basis -- this is regrettably neither true nor even close to the truth.

Bizarrely, the actual report will be retained for another three months to facilitate editing -- to suit the summary!

IPCC procedures state that: Changes (other than grammatical or minor editorial changes) made after acceptance by the Working Group or the Panel shall be those necessary to ensure consistency with the Summary for Policymakers or the Overview Chapter (Appendix A to the Principles Governing IPCC Work, p4/15) -- this is surely unacceptable and would not be tolerated in virtually any other field.

The UN would eagerly engage in any enterprise that would weaken capitalist economies around the world.
-----
They are just part of it. Throw in the far-left, academia, and every other body that lives off of tax dollars. The ruse of global warming as some kind of monolithic unique occurance due to man, is their red herring to capture those big grant dollars and any other tax dollar they can grab....save the world....just give us tax dollars and we will.

As if the world has not been cyclic thermally since its creation....

The IPOC is part of the UN.
The board of directors are all no name foreigners from insignificant nations.

One American woman named Solomon on one of the committees.

they have a web site. Check it out. It even gives directions as to how to write research articles using terms that generally overstate the actual findings.

Great article. I believe this link was posted before on Free Rpublic, but it is worth repeating. It is the best and most comprehensive explanation of climate change. Unfortunately the science of global warming has become more political than analytical.

The United Nations is anti-American and anti-Capitalist. In short .. I don't trust them. Not a bit. The UN would eagerly engage in any enterprise that would weaken capitalist economies around the world.

Well, that's the bottom line. What would we expect from the UN, seriously?

"WHY AM I SKEPTICAL ABOUT MAN-MADE GLOBAL WARMING?"

You evidently have a few brain-cells left. That or you are not a socialist.

It is a brilliant point, analogous to the left's approach to racism. They believe nbothing can ever level the playing field, so we will always need racial and class warfare. Of course, their real aim is to destabilize society and destroy free enterprise.

It's also good cover if global warming is natural and nothing we do slows it down.

Warming of the climate system is unequivocal, as is now evident from...

Now that we've established that, there is no point in spending another cent on funding global warming science. We can now divert the $billions in grants and studies that would have gone to that to other science. What would be the point in more global warming science when its now all agreed, and unequivocal, and will never ever ever be proven otherwise?

But the biggest bombshell here is this one: no matter what we do, global warming will not be reversed. It will go on for centuries, according to this report.

Since there is nothing at all we can do about it ... immediately de-fund all research in this area, cancel all RFPs for anything related to innovative solutions to the problem, all government spending and grants should be discontinued, and the Kyoto treaty placed firmly into the nearest paper shreader.

Then pop open a cold beer to help cool off ...

"The anti capitalist enviro Nazis don't ever want the global warming problem solved."
Precisely, just go and look at all those tax exempt organizations.
It goes from global conferences to a spouting Chiraq with his royally subsidized agriculture loyalists to taxpayer funded local US entities, including all those professors sitting things out at their respective University chairs.
These taxpayer funds have swelled dramatically and provide levels of incomes and existences for a cause and effect theory which created fierce adherents based on their elevated standards of living at such tax exempt status.
Long live global warming, long live tax exemptions.
p.s. Media's support is thorough, and so is their quest for sensationalisms to delay readership shrinkages.

It is difficult to get too worked up about the scare campaign unless and until the enviros become pro-nuclear. As it stands now, the ecofreak position is that global warming will end the world as we know it, but Yucca Mountain is a greater threat because some unwary person 300,000 years from now might inadvertently be exposed.
