You're welcome Myrddin. I've been following the anti-gun nutballs and it is depressing but not surprising. And then, to top it off, we get Zumbo deciding to speak without thinking first; and, of course, Rudy to worry about. *sigh*

Post 9/11, Islam flourishes among blacks in America
26 Feb, 2007

ATLANTA: Islam is growing fast among African Americans, who are undeterred by increased scrutiny of Muslims in the United States since the September 11 attacks, according to imams and experts. Converts within the black community say they are attracted to the disciplines of prayer, the emphasis within Islam on submission to God and the religion's affinity with people who are oppressed.

Some blacks are also suspicious of US government warnings about the emergence of new enemies since the 2001 attacks because of memories of how the establishment demonized civil rights leaders Martin Luther King and Malcolm X. As a result, they are willing to view Islam as a legitimate alternative to Christianity, the majority religion among US blacks. "It is one of the fastest-growing religions in America," said Lawrence Mamiya, professor of religion at Vassar College, speaking of Islam among black Americans.

Black Americans typically attend mosques separate from Muslims from immigrant backgrounds despite sharing common beliefs, according to Aminah McCloud, religious studies professor at DePaul University in Chicago. But imams in Atlanta, a US centre for black Muslims, said they were subjected to less scrutiny than Muslims from the Middle East and Indian sub-continent.

Police arrest Israelis suspected of doing business with Hamas and Islamic Jihad
February 25, 2007

JERUSALEM – Police said Sunday they had arrested Israeli staff at two Tel Aviv companies, suspected of helping channel funds to the Hamas and Islamic Jihad Palestinian militant groups. Authorities raided offices of Shintrako Ltd. and Mayan Customs Brokers and International Forwarding Sunday in the Tel Aviv suburb of Ramat Gan, the police said in a statement. Police arrested the general manager of Shintrako and other workers of the two companies, the statement said.

Mayan accountant Tzvika Koren denied that anyone from the company was arrested and said police had only questioned several employees, including himself. The company was not involved in any illegal activity, since it only relayed Shintrako imports through customs, Koren said. Shintrako did not immediately return a call requesting comment.

The companies are suspected of funding Hamas and Islamic Jihad through a company they did business with in the Gaza Strip, the statement said. Shintrako had been warned not to work with the company but found ways to help it get around trade restrictions imposed by Israel, the release said. Police report an increase during the past year in the flow of clandestine finance to Palestinian militant groups squeezed by a financial blockade imposed by international aid donors since Hamas last year won parliamentary elections and control of the Palestinian government.

“These funds are used as fuel to ignite terror and they allow these organizations to preserve and expand their organized infrastructure,” the police statement said.

And then, to top it off, we get Zumbo deciding to speak without thinking first;

Zumbo totally screwed himself. He might get a job at the gun counter of Walmart...if he manages to keep his silly opinions to himself in the future.
