Global Warming on Mars [not man-made; destructive changes to economy not necessary]

Global warming on Mars

In its ninth year in orbit around Mars, NASA's Mars Global Surveyor has made a number of surprising discoveries. http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/mgs/newsroom/20050920a.html For three Mars summers in a row, deposits of frozen carbon dioxide near Mars' south pole have shrunk from the previous year's size, suggesting a climate change in progress. Apparently, President Bush's enviromental policies are so destructive that they are causing global warming throughout the solar system. (HT: Instapundit)

WE KNOW why the mainstream media is ignoring this hoax-busting information. But why is the conservative media also missing the story? This has gigantic implications for the prosperity and future of billions of people on the Earth. If anti-capitalist economy-destroying measures are not needed -- because global warming is caused by THE SUN not mankind -- this could be the biggest story of the century. Yet, where is the media? Ho hum.

What NASA hasn't disclosed is that Martian Global Warming has affected Martian Economy. Marvin is unemployed and his SUV has been reporsessed!

So not only is ALGLORE affecting Global Warming but so has Marvin!!!

Well, we're not going to reign in rampant consumerism and American excess by throwing away a perfectly good scare tactic like Global Warming. Exactly what are you trying to achieve?

Where's the media, you ask? In my neck of the woods, the cry to "stop climate change" has become deafening. Ad council PSAs on televison, articles in all kinds of print media... It's getting to be a self-parody.

From a current MSNBC article:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16922234/

Sources at the talks said the IPCC approved the term “very likely” in Thursday’s sessions. That means they agree that there is a 90 percent chance that humans are aggravating any natural warming by burning fossil fuels, which release carbon into the atmosphere and add to the greenhouse effect around Earth.

So the IPCC has changed its statment from 'humans causing global warming' to 'humans aggravating natural warming.' With this statement, the IPCC has acknowledged that the Earth is undergoing a natural warming cycle. But they insist we are making it worse so we need to gut our economies, not to stop global warming, but to reduce man's contribution. If the Earth is heating up, how significant is man's contribution and why should we try to counter Mother Nature?

President Jacques Chirac warned that if the United States did not sign the agreements contained in the Kyoto Treaty, a carbon tax across Europe on imports from nations that have not signed the treaty could be imposed to try to force compliance.
Man, those little grey guys from Mars are NOT going to be happy with the French.

Global Warming on Mars Glenn Reynolds highlighted this item from the Mars Global Surveyor project: [F]or three Mars summers in a row, deposits of frozen carbon dioxide near Mars' south pole have shrunk from the previous year's size, suggesting a climate change in progress. While it is theoretically possible for human and animal activities to affect the climate on Earth, the main factor causing fluctuations in temperatures on this planet, as on Mars, is variability in energy output from the Sun. The Mars Global Surveyor data suggest what I think would be a relatively simple experiment: Why not place thermometers...

Is there Global Warming on Mars? In 2003, NASA's orbiter Mars Odyssey spotted seasonal changes such as the advance and retreat of polar ice, but it also is gathering information pointing to long-term trends. William Feldman of the Los Alamos National Laboratory confirmed that the current climate conditions, including too much frozen water at low-latitude regions, suggests something is out of equilibrium on Mars. Many scientists believe that Mars is coming out of an Ice Age. In some low-latitude areas, the ice has already dissipated. In others, that process is slower and hasn't reached equilibrium yet. Those areas are like...

Mars 'more active than suspected' Gullies have appeared in new images taken this year New images of Mars suggest the Red Planet's surface is more active than previously thought, the US space agency (Nasa) reports. Photographs from Nasa's orbiting spacecraft Mars Global Surveyor show recently formed craters and gullies. The agency's scientists also say that deposits of frozen carbon dioxide near the planet's south pole have shrunk for three summers in a row. They say this is evidence to suggest climate change is in progress. Mars rumble The new gullies appear in an April 2005 image of a sand-dune slope....

Look to Mars for the truth on global warming ...."It is no secret that increased solar irradiance warms Earth's oceans, which then triggers the emission of large amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. So the common view that man's industrial activity is a deciding factor in global warming has emerged from a misinterpretation of cause and effect relations." Dr. Abdussamatov goes further, debunking the very notion of a greenhouse effect. "Ascribing 'greenhouse' effect properties to the Earth's atmosphere is not scientifically substantiated," he maintains. "Heated greenhouse gases, which become lighter as a result of expansion, ascend to the atmosphere...

Global Warming is Real And It’s Happening on Mars! By John D. Turner NASA scientists are reporting that the climate on Mars appears to presently be warmer than it has been for at least several decades, possibly even centuries. This is based on pictures of Mars dating back to 1999. These images document substantial changes in the polar ice caps that Michael Malin, the principal investigator for the Mars Orbiter Camera describes as shrinking at “a prodigious rate”. This is not new news. Back in 2003, scientists were theorizing that Mars was in the process of emerging from an ice...

The planet Mars is undergoing significant global warming which supports many climatologists' claims that the Earth's modest warming during the past century is due to a recent upsurge in solar energy, says James M. Taylor, of the Heartland Institute. For three Mars summers, deposits of frozen carbon dioxide near the planet's south pole have shrunk from the previous year's size, suggesting a climate change in progress, says Taylor. Furthermore, documented changes from 1999 to 2005 show that Mars' climate is presently warmer, and perhaps getting warmer still, than it was several decades or centuries ago. But there are not a...

Mars Global Surveyor MOC Observes Changes in the South Polar Cap: Evidence for Recent Climate Change on Mars [snip] New MGS Mars Orbiter Camera (MOC) images have provided a startling observation: The residual martian south polar cap is changing. The fact that it is changing suggests that Mars may have major, global climate changes that are occurring on the same time scales as Earth's most recent climate shifts, including the last Ice Age. Global warming on Mars? In the other study, led by Michael C. Malin, features at the south pole were observed to retreat by up to 10 feet (3 meters) from one Martian year to the next. The odd shapes -- circular pits, ridges and mounds -- were first photographed in 1999. Since then, the features have eroded away by up to 50 percent.

This whole GlobalWarming™ thing would be laughable, if it wasn't for the dire consequences we face by trying to combat it.

Is the phrase "humans aggravating natural warming" directly from the new IPCC report, or just from the article? If the IPCC is now calling it "natural warming" and saying that humans "aggrevate" instead of "cause", that's a massive departure.
