Does President Bush have it in for the press corps?
Touring a Caterpillar factory in Peoria, Ill., the Commander in Chief got behind the wheel of a giant tractor and played chicken with a few wayward reporters. Wearing a pair of stylish safety glasses--at least more stylish than most safety glasses--Bush got a mini-tour of the factory before delivering remarks on the economy.
"I would suggest moving back," Bush said as he climbed into the cab of a massive D-10 tractor. "I'm about to crank this sucker up." As the engine roared to life, White House staffers tried to steer the press corps to safety, but when the tractor lurched forward, they too were forced to scramble for safety.
"Get out of the way!" a news photographer yelled. "I think he might run us over!" said another. White House aides tried to herd the reporters the right way without getting run over themselves. Even the Secret Service got involved, as one agent began yelling at reporters to get clear of the tractor.
Watching the chaos below, Bush looked out the tractor's window and laughed, steering the massive machine into the spot where most of the press corps had been positioned. The episode lasted about a minute, and Bush was still laughing when he pulled to a stop. He gave reporters a thumbs-up. "If you've never driven a D-10, it's the coolest experience," Bush said afterward. Yeah, almost as much fun as seeing your life flash before your eyes.
LOL
And he missed them all with a D-10 ????
sheesh.
Better luck next time!!!
OH man, that is so funny. Is there video somewhere?
D-10 = Good for taking out the trash!
The right tool for the right job!
LOLOLOL.....oh this just made my day!
Bush ordered a Cat D-10 tractor for the ranch in Crawford, TX. He wants another shot at the WH press corps ... this time he won't miss.
"Bush Almost Runs Over Press Corps"
"Almost' run over the press vermin?
And that is wrong how?
Mine too!!! :-) Makes even these sick lungs feel better!
I love this man :)
Why is this under "bloggers and personal"?
So close, yet so far. Maybe next time....
LMAO!
Maybe a few more RPMs and a higher gear and we would have had something to talk about.
Had this been Clinton behind the wheel, the press would have declared what a great opportunity that was to discuss the role of safety on heavy equipment.
Or better yet, he should tour a place where they make ammo and machine guns.
Good question. I've moved this happy tale to the front page.
Cindy She-harpy is quaking in her flats!
