Laura Bush, who traveled in Paris to meet other First Ladies about the youth defense program, met French journalist of the newspaper "Paris Match".
Here is an extract of what she said :
Paris-match: "last week, during a handing-over of medals to wounded soldiers back from Iraq, we saw a tear on the cheek of president Bush. How do you support this war with the daily newspapers? Do you leave Iraq on the Oval office, or do you continue to talk about it?
Laura Bush: Of course, we talk about it. To be a president of the United States is a job which takes twenty-four hours of your daily time. Particularly in circumstances where young Americans risk their life. [...] We live one serious moment of the History and, obviously, for the president of the United States, the burden is heavy to carry since September 11, 2001. The Americans lost their naivety, they do not think more that we are safe from any attack. The concern is on the face of the President. There are the white hair and some new wrinkles, but it is strong, very strong".
The French would do well by electing a person like George Bush.
Yes Mrs Bush you are so right... My president is very strong!
The last sentence was of course :
The concern is on the face of the President. There are the white hair and some new wrinkles, but HE is strong, very strong".
I screwed up the translation, oops... :-)
Naaahhhh. They like their leaders to have mistresses...they think something is wrong with them if they don't.
I prefer the Bush's way of doing it...:)
Laura Bush goes overseas in an official capacity and the DBM doesn/t even notice. H + C went on their annual spring break trips and there was 24/7 coverage. discouraging.
yep you're right
Chirac even has SECRET BANK ACCOUNT in Japan with millions of Euros...
What a shame
Laura Bush is just amazing with her strength and dignity. In the pictures, she's with Bernadette Chirac and her husband Jacques Ch'Iraq, but the only one who has dignity is Laura.
Really amazing - you should be proud to have such a First Lady...
I definitely am. Think of the publicity H would have gotten if she had done Laura's National Book Festival.
Well Sarkozy is ahead in the polls, so there is hope.
He has aged well though.
Not easy to fight Dems at home and terrorist over there
Your right, they didn't notice. Usually they don't miss the chance to call an official visit a photo op.
I believe his strength comes from the ultimate source of strength, Jesus Christ.
of course, faith makes everything
I've put on my blog a picture of a sun with some clouds around... It means faith
moral strength does not negate personal compassion.
a man who is not ashamed to shed a tear in public retains more of his humanity than his manhood.
i don't always agree w Bush, but i'm in awe of his personal tenacity
:)~
George W. Bush is by far the greatest president (as a leader and a man) that the USA have since Reagan
I'm witchoo.
