Im pro-choice. Im pro-gay rights, Giuliani said. He was then asked whether he supports a ban on what critics call partial-birth abortions. No, I have not supported that, and I dont see my position on that changing, he responded. Source: CNN.com, Inside Politics Dec 2, 1999http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/Rudy_Giuliani_Abortion.htm
ANDERSON COOPER 360 DEGREES (November 14, 2006)
RUDY GIULIANI (R), FORMER MAYOR OF NEW YORK CITY: I'm pro- choice. I'm pro-gay rights.KING: Giuliani supports a woman's right to an abortion, and back in 1999, he opposed a federal ban on late-term abortions.
GIULIANI: No, I have not supported that, and I don't see my position on that changing.
KING: Immigration could be another presidential landmine. Back in 1996, Mayor Giuliani went to federal court to challenge new federal laws requiring the city to inform the federal government about illegal immigrants.
JEFFREY: He took the side of illegal immigrants in New York City against the Republican Congress.
KING: Giuliani opposes same-sex marriage but as mayor, he supported civil unions and extending health and other benefits to gay couples. He also supported the assault weapons ban and other gun control measures opposed by the National Rifle Association.
GIULIANI: I'm in favor of gun control. I'm pro-choice.
Republican Big-Wigs Support Pro-Abortion Event in NY
Pro-abortion Governor George Pataki and New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who also supports unrestricted abortion, are co-chairs of the 2000 Choice Award Presentation to be held on May 30 at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City. The event is sponsored by the Republican Pro-Choice Coalition, a group that is campaigning for the removal of the pro-life plank from the Republican National Platform.

Just ONE of the many negative aspects (INDECISIVENESS) of a RINO.
If I had basically nothing to recommend me to my party other than, I happened to be mayor during 911 and did a good job of leading New York through it, I'd be cautious too.
Hi, I'm prochoice, pro gay unions, pro gun grabbing, fiscally liberal, and...oh shoot, I'm supposed to be a Republican, aren't I? DARNIT I knew I was doing something wrong!
'Nuff said.
I think Rudy did a great job in the 9/11 aftermath, and should always be respected for that, however, for him to run as a Republican candidate, is just plain absurd.
I will always believe Rudy's exit from the 2000 Senate race served the higher purpose of having him as mayor for the events of 9/11. He was the right man for that time. However, as much as I'd like to see him go head to head against Hillary, I don't believe he's the best choice for the Republican nomination for President. The Giuligolos can try to convince me why I'm wrong.
Not the guy for U.S.

So .. I guess you agree with the NYT ..??
Broad as the Republican party platform may be, Giuliani fell off the left side of it long ago.
I don't care what he calls himself, he's a Democrat. He talks like one, governs like one---and if elected President, he would talk like a Dem and govern like one.
There's been a lot of material posted recently exposing Giuliani for the liberal he is and demonstrating how his views and record as mayor conflict with the Republican Party Platform. Compile some of that and use it. He can be stopped in his tracks if enough grassroots Republicans stand in opposition to him.
How many damn times are you going to post that same crap today?
You didn't say - how do you feel you're doing so far in preventing abortions? That's your main goal, right? How you doing cracking down on homosexuality?
Run, Julie Annie, run! We need a female candidate!
After the fact. If he had any "leadership" qualities at all, there would have been an evacuation plan after the first attck on the World Trade Center.
A lot of people died needlessly because emergency response protocols were not followed on September 11. (I have worked extensively in first responder situations.)
It's like Nelson Rockefeller rising from the dead...
Giuliani's problem is that the Left thinks he's too conservative and the Right thinks he's too liberal. He can't win.
