Giuliani Is Cautious (indecisive?) as He Weighs ’08 Decision
NY Times ^ | SAM ROBERTS

Rudolph W. Giuliani, who developed a national reputation for decisive and reassuring leadership after 9/11, now faces the odd challenge of having to reassure some supporters that he can be decisive about a very different issue: running for president. Even as his fellow Republican John McCain and fellow New Yorker Hillary Rodham Clinton have all but formally declared their candidacies, Mr. Giuliani has proceeded more cautiously.

I don't party. I hate frats.

Don't worry about those old geezers trying to tear you down. You're doing OK.

The reason Rudy is taking his time is so he can slowly torment the "Rudy Haters" on FR.

Yep. He's enjoying watching them implode.

LOL - apparently abortion is the mostest important issue on the entire planet- I mean it's just the mostest ever. But don't ask how things are going - that's not relevant :-)

Apparently the WOT must be off their radar screens.

For me, it's quite the opposite. I'd like to learn all hunters weak points ahead of time before I debate some Lib.

Somehow this self-procalimed *superior* person - does not realize that this is a public forum :-)

Or that "stupid" has one 'p'.

And a serial adulterer. He even publically lied about his adultery, although not under oath like Clinton. If this was the Democrat candidate, we'd be all over him on the adultery issue. But because the liberal has an R after his name, too many here can't avoid taking a hypocritical stand on the issue. It's bad for Dems to do it, but OK for Republicans. Is that it?

Clinton was impeached and disbarred because he lied under oath, not because he was having cigar and pizza parties and bimbo eruptions in the White House and various hotels across the country.

I envision it ending gradually, with public opinion continuing to move slowly toward life. It will be a long, hard-fought state-by-state effort that only begins with the overturning of Roe.

I find it hard to believe that after what FR went through between 2004 and 2006 over illegal immigration, you believe 2008 will hinge on Roe v. Wade.

Giuliani's problem is that the Left thinks he's too conservative and the Right thinks he's too liberal. He can't win.

The fringers won't vote for a mainstream candidate by default anyway.

There's no way he'll get any crossover votes, as someone like McCain would. There's also a good chance some conservatives would sit out the election.

I don't know about that. Guiliani is still pretty popular. He was in the national spotlight after 9/11. I saw a "man on the street" interview segment on WNBC last week (not the one referred to in this article), and many NYC Democrats said they'd vote for Rudy over any Democrat candidate.

Brit cited a FOX News/Opinion Dynamics poll last week that said that Rudy is the favorite among the likely GOP candidates.

No. So are you openly acknowleging that an unabashed liberal is the GOP's best hope for 2008?

Now you can find ANY post where I said anything close to that.

I can wait while you find one.

"Well Rudy has a lot of support. He is NOT a social conservative - but I don't see any evidence that social conservatives have furthered the cause. "

What is "the cause" according to you?

Duncan Hunter for president and Newt Gingrich for vice president. How could the two of them be defeated?
