Hagel has been behaving in a very odd manner the last couple of years.
I wonder how many will recognize this as sarcasm?
My theory even makes more sense in that case.
What do you mean exactly?
It does - I just didn't want to say it. I read somewhere that he has backing from some Middle Eastern groups, the same as Chaffee.
If Corker actually says that to their face, I think that is justifiable grounds for his snout to be punched by one of the soldiers. At least that would be my point of view if I were on a jury, as I instructed the other members of the jury on the merits of jury nullification. As one into the ying and the yang on Iraq policy these days, Corker is nevertheless a total ahole on this one. F him.
And there you have it.
I've been thinking this for a long time but didn't want to say either. I very seldom write anything but I am so upset about the media and the democrats today that I had to vent.
Thing is - I'm more to the middle of the Republican party than many - and they've lost me too.
Color me speechless.
Republican Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., said he didn't support the resolution because he didn't believe it would affect administration policy. Instead, he said next time he talks to Tennessee soldiers he will tell them, "I oppose what you are doing but I thank you for your service."

General David Petraeus testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee. When asked if he could get his job done in Iraq without additional troops, he replied: No, sir. When asked if a congressional resolution of disapproval of the surge could encourage the enemy, he said, Thats correct, sir.
3990 people have signed The Pledge thus far.

If the United States Senate passes a resolution, non-binding or otherwise, that criticizes the commitment of additional troops to Iraq that General Petraeus has asked for and that the president has pledged, and if the Senate does so after the testimony of General Petraeus on January 23 that such a resolution will be an encouragement to the enemy, I will not contribute to any Republican senator who voted for the resolution. Further, if any Republican senator who votes for such a resolution is a candidate for re-election in 2008, I will not contribute to the National Republican Senatorial Committee unless the Chairman of that Committee, Senator Ensign, commits in writing that none of the funds of the NRSC will go to support the re-election of any senator supporting the non-binding resolution.
Take the pledge, and tell the NRSC:
NRSC
Ronald Reagan Republican Center
425 2nd Street, NE
Washington, DC 20002
202.675.6000
webmaster@gopsenators.com
Then e-mail Senator McConnell and Senator Ensign, and tell them too.
Senator McConnell's phone number is (202) 224-2541.
Senator Ensign's phone number is (202) 224-6244.
GOP activists and donors built the GOP senate delegation, as well as the majority that was punted away. They can disassemble it as well, and GOP support for a neoappeasement resolution is exactly the way to start that process.
The Congressional GOP has to realize it cannot have it both ways --you can't be for victory after you were against it.
And GOP senators --alone or as a group-- definitely cannot count on the support of the base if any of them vote for appeasement.

I LOVE IT!!!!
Thanks for the ping, STARWISE. And thanks for posting this thread, penelopesire.
I've signed the pledge and will pass it along.
I'm also attempting to compose a letter to Sen. Corker but I have to keep hitting "backspace". His flip remark regarding what he'll tell Tennessee troops has me steamed and I'm having trouble keeping it civil.
At the moment, I'm ashamed he's in DC representing our state.
Dang, the list of names is growing fast! Almost 2,000 more names since I signed a few minutes ago!
What Can You Do?
1. Sign the Pledge
2. Contact your Senators and the Senate Republican leadership
3. Tell at least three friends about the Pledge and refer them here to sign

Don't forget step 3!
Sometimes it's abortion, other times other the border or guns or whatnot. This time it's this resolution. I mean suppose they mostly agree with the Republican candidate and mostly disagree with his opponent but just on the basis this one disagreement they won't vote for the Republican. Well, I just hope they're happy with the result!
Not sure I was very convincing
From last night .. orginal artwork by one of our own. I love it!
Please, all .. please make the Pledge above and call your senators and those on the list .... this is our ONE America! These are the incredible troops, who put their lives on the line, without hesitation, for US every day.
PLEASE .. keep them in your prayers.
Amen!
LOL! Love the FReeper artwork.
I FINALLY finished the letter to Sen. Corker. I don't think it's EVER taken so long to write one page. LOL! I probably should have waited til I cooled off (so I wouldn't have to keep deleting things) but I want this to go out in the morning. I don't think I'll cool off for a while.
Many of us had doubts about him when he ran for office and it's beginning to look like they were well-founded. We'll see how he votes next week.
Off to pack some Valentine's love and support for troops overseas so everything will be ready to mail next week. Have a great rest of the night.
