HUNT BLAMES JFK HIT ON LBJ
the New York POST ^ | January 14, 2007 | staff

Posted on 01/24/2007 10:56:10 AM PST by archy

Only the most far-out conspiracy theorists believe in scenarios like Hunt's. But in a new memoir, "American Spy: My Secret History in the CIA, Watergate & Beyond," due out in April, Hunt, 88, writes: "Having Kennedy liquidated, thus elevating himself to the presidency without having to work for it himself, could have been a very tempting and logical move on Johnson's part.

"LBJ had the money and the connections to manipulate the scenario in Dallas and is on record as having convinced JFK to make the appearance in the first place. He further tried unsuccessfully to engineer the passengers of each vehicle, trying to get his good buddy, Gov. [John] Connolly, to ride with him instead of in JFK's car - where . . . he would have been out of danger."

==I dont think you know a damn thing about weapons.Bolt action rifle, that many shots, that fast, out of wack scope? Not a chance in hell.==

I saw a 70 year old man demonstrate exactly how it could have been done using the same model rifle.

All this may be true but if I were LBJ and wanted to do away with Kennedy, I would not have chosen such a public way to do it. Too risky. How about poisoning or an accident?

Not a hard shot at all: straight ahead with target moving away very slowly in a consistent plane.

Also, starting with one up the spout,2-3 more aimed consecutive shots no problem in 5-6 seconds, or less. By now, the feat has been duplicated with exactly this equipment many times, by many different shooters.

Also bear in mind that long 6.5 mm bullets have great sectional density and thus in FMJ, very good penetrating characteristics. 6.5 mm was used by many armies because of this, and because of manageable recoil, which also enhances accuracy.

Neither does matter exiting a gunshot wound ever propel anything in the opposite direction.

A demonstrably false statement. Click on "Melon 1" or "Melon 2" in post #212. For an explanation, read How a high-speed bullet damages an organ.

If this had been an episode of "24", Aristotle Onassis would have promised Jackie Kennedy that he would be her white knight and save her from further humiliation and suffering.

I was listening to the radio in June of 2000 and some nutjob was making a big deal out of George HW Bush being iN Texas that day and trying to make a connection.

kind of makes sense to me too. LBJ, was the one of the worst presidents of the 20th century.

Only staged up by Carter and Clinton.

"A demonstrably false statement. Click on "Melon 1" or "Melon 2" in post #212. For an explanation, read How a high-speed bullet damages an organ."

It is indeed unfortunate how people misrepresent effects.

The 'Melon 2' link (Melon 1 did nothing for me) clearly shows the downward angle of the bullet producing a rebound effect in the melon from the table. The matter exiting the melon did not propel it backwards but rather the rebound of the bullet's compression wave going through the melon lying on the table. That is why it bounced up and backwards. The amount of matter exiting the melon was nowhere near massive enough to propel the melon backward as in a 'jet effect'.

Tell me, what table was Kennedy's head lying on so that such a rebound effect could be produced? None. I saw this in documentary attempts to produce the same effect and they always rely on the rebound effect of an object lying on a flat surface.

In addition, Newton's 3rd Law of Motion requires that the bullet carry a forward momentum equal to the rifle's rearward 'kick'. It is impossible for a bullet to impart a rearward action once it leaves the rifle. Only a forward effect is possible and this entirely accounts for the rebound behavior of the melon on the table.

That is, of course, why I asked people to demonstrate using an 'apple on a string' or other such unsupported object. This approach more closely mimics the effect of the human head perched on the neck as opposed to an object lying on a table.

But, that is the point of the misrepresentation anyway. To produce the desired misleading effect by subtly changing the dynamics of the situation.

That my guess too. While a full metal jacket is good for penetration, it doesn't do well in the energy transfer department.

All understandable as the goal of the military is to make the enemy tie up resources taking care of wounded. Anyone know of a site showing the results of of a test shot into a skull shaped object filled with Gelatin?

Tell me, what table was Kennedy's head lying on so that such a rebound effect could be produced?

His neck.

In addition, Newton's 3rd Law of Motion requires that the bullet carry a forward momentum equal to the rifle's rearward 'kick'. It is impossible for a bullet to impart a rearward action once it leaves the rifle.

More precisely, the total momentum imparted to the head must be forward. But when the head fragments, the pressure wave created by the bullet may impart momentum to the forward moving fragments of matter---momentum greater than the momentum imparted by the bullet to the entire head. The extra momentum imparted to the forward moving matter would be balanced by the momentum of the rearward moving fragments, in this case, the portion of JFK's head that remained attached to his neck.

But this ignores the neuromuscular effects, which can completely overwhelm the momentum effects of the bullet and the explosion of the head, making definitive statements about what direction the bullet came from (such as "In order for a forward-traveling bullet to push the head backwards, the bullet would have to be rocket-propelled and the energy from the rocket exhaust would have to be transfered from the bullet to the head. Didn't happen.") based on momentum considerations alone irrelevant, even if such momentum statements were true.

"His neck."

His neck is not going to act like a table and produce a rebound effect. His head would be thrust forward as if hit in the back of the head with a baseball bat.

"The extra momentum imparted to the forward moving matter would be balanced by the momentum of the rearward moving fragments, in this case, the portion of JFK's head that remained attached to his neck."

What, pray tell, is going to impart this rearward momentum when everything is moving forward? If I jerk a single grape off of a bunch hanging from a string, does that make the whole bunch fly backward? I don't think so.

"But this ignores the neuromuscular effects, which can completely overwhelm the momentum effects of the bullet and the explosion of the head, making definitive statements about what direction the bullet came from (such as "In order for a forward-traveling bullet to push the head backwards, the bullet would have to be rocket-propelled and the energy from the rocket exhaust would have to be transfered from the bullet to the head. You could claim a neuromuscular effect if you want to, but I have never seen that claim proposed to explain the motion of Kennedy's head. All I have ever seen is the 'jet' of matter nonsense.

So say what you want, just don't say that a 'jet' of matter exiting the skull from a back-to-front bullet impact caused his head to jerk backwards and to the left.

That is the claim and the effect that I was refuting.
