HUNT BLAMES JFK HIT ON LBJ
the New York POST ^ | January 14, 2007 | staff

Posted on 01/24/2007 10:56:10 AM PST by archy

Only the most far-out conspiracy theorists believe in scenarios like Hunt's. But in a new memoir, "American Spy: My Secret History in the CIA, Watergate & Beyond," due out in April, Hunt, 88, writes: "Having Kennedy liquidated, thus elevating himself to the presidency without having to work for it himself, could have been a very tempting and logical move on Johnson's part.

"LBJ had the money and the connections to manipulate the scenario in Dallas and is on record as having convinced JFK to make the appearance in the first place. He further tried unsuccessfully to engineer the passengers of each vehicle, trying to get his good buddy, Gov. [John] Connolly, to ride with him instead of in JFK's car - where . . . he would have been out of danger."

I'm sorry, but "Case Closed" sealed it for me. And the way I see it, if their really was a conspiracy, the truth would have come out for certain by now, instead of just the continued speculation.

Oswald acted alone, and that's that

_______

People talk about the odds of witnesses mysteriously dying etc. in the Kennedy Assasination.

The odds of the conspiracy never coming to light after 40 years are about 100 billion to one. Case Closed.

"It's distressing that so many here on free republic buy into the conspiracy theories."

"Please fellow members, please read this book."

It's distressing that so many here on free republic continually buy into the standard government storyline.

Please fellow members, please read these books.

Then do something irrational and think for yourself. :-)

But, it's such a big stroke for the ego to believe that you solved the murder of a president of the United States, especially if you believe the government is involved in covering it up.

I don't know.

Johnson was a totally unscrupulous and ambitious man.

NOTHING he did would surprise me.

"Never coming to light"?

What do you think we're taking about?

It 'came to light' alright.

How do you explain the magic bullet theory?

_______

Simply, when ACCURATELY placing the jump seat in the proper position, the bullet wounds line up EXACTLY.

I heard this theory years ago and would not be surprised if this was the truth. I don't suppose we will ever really know...

Well, all sealed records are scheduled to be released by 2017, unless the President closes them. Wonder who will be POTUS in 2017, and will they open them or not.

In all cases where the ARRB agreed to withhold a record or information in a record, they stipulated a specific release date for the document. In addition, according to Section 5(g)(2)(D) of the Act, all records in the Kennedy Collection will be opened by 2017 unless certified as justifiably closed by the President of the United States.

I wasn't aware that there was much thinking for yourself going on in this thread. I haven't seen a single tin foiler bring up a shred of evidence to implicate anyone but Oswald.

Her money didn't get him to Washington. She "made" her money in owning radio stations after he was in. I don't remember the details, but his connections somehow got her favorable treatment. There's a biography called "LBJ - Means of Ascent" (I think) that covers it pretty well....

She bought an AM radio station in the high end of the AM spectrum (e.g. 1450), which doesn't reach out very far and so was cheap. He got legislation passed that switch the frequency down to the other end of the spectrum(e.g. 710) which gave a range almost from Texas to Canada - a huge difference in value, and what they could charge for ads.

Even if all the information comes out, the tin foil egotists will never believe it.

"Well, Johnson wanted to be president awfully bad."

And then he didn't even run for a second term. Maybe being prez wasn't as much fun as he thought it be.

"LBJ's WIFE had money, not LBJ himself."

***
She had SOME money from her father...but the kind that made LBJ a millionaire came from his supporters among the Texas oil companies and the big construction outfit Brown & Root. LBJ and Brown&Root were almost like Siamese twins in terms of political funding and manipulation, especially when LBJ became a US senator and arguably the most powerful Senate majority leader in US Senate history.

Gourmet Dan, you are dead wrong on so many levels on this thread it's almost amusing.

I'm a person who READS a lot, I read about 40 hours worth of material before buying my high-def TV's to give you an example.

You repeat the same tired, silly theories that have been disproven repeatedly a number of times, but it seems you haven't read anything about the ACTUAL EVIDENCE that tied Oswald to the crime, and don't tell me you have because I won't believe you.

I'm no government rube, I am a devout SKEPTIC and admit to LOVING the wild conspiracy shows and LOVING Oliver Stones JFK. If you watch JFK as a paranoid black comedy farce linking everyone to everything which is unintentionally what it is IMMENSELY enjoyable. The performances are great and I've watched it many times and LOVE IT. Just like I love the movie BRAZIL, which was intentional in it's comedy.

Oliver Stone as a source for truth or research borders on the humorous. However, the account given by retired USAF Col. L. Fletcher Prouty is more compelling and why the "Oswald alone" theory doesn't wash.

Umm, do a little research on Prouty. A self promoting flake of the highest order.

I have. I started reading his books over ten years ago. As far as self-promotion goes, most authors do promote their books or their views.

Part of me is not surprised at all that so many people have lost faith in this country after that ridiculous white wash concerning the murder of a President of the United States.

That is really very interesting and I never really thought about this being the beginning of American decline. But yes, everything started to fall apart in the mid-to-late sixties, so it makes sense.

Interestingly, it wouldn't even matter if there was an elaborate conspiracy designed to cover up the assassination of a sitting President--only that people believe there to be one (which clearly they do to this day).
