Nifong has more charges against him
Fox News Alert | 1/24/07 | FoxRun

Just heard via Fox News Alert that additional charges have been levied against Nifong. Charges are that he failed to disclose and/or hid the DNA evidence (that exonerated the 3 players charged).

So 10 days from today is Feb.5? Quite a different day in court from what Nifong had expected. LOL

I STILL think Crystal should be forced to become a PUBLIC figure in every way....published name, picture, and public testimony.

Seems like Linwood Wilson is on the hotseat too! That whole DA office may be going down.

Sorry if this was already posted.

Wilson said, "I've never had anyone question my integrity."

Then how can he explain this? "Twenty ears ago he was investigated on suspicion of making false statements on the witness stand and setting up an illegal telephone tap, according to his file at the state agency that licenses private investigators."

From Liestoppers Board -

278. Nifong's failure to provide the Duke Defendants with memorializations of Dr. Meehan's oral statements was in violation of the United States Constitution, N.C. Gen. Stat. § 15A-903(a)(1), and the Court's June 22, 2006 order compelling discovery.

Well, well, well, this certainly seems to tump te Murphy analysis that Nifong did nothing wrong in hiding that evidence.

LOL. What's up with NC, anyway, is there something in the water?

It is, if he loses his bar card even for one day he loses his job as the DA of Durham. The fact that the bar has added more charges to me signals that Nifong will at least have his license suspended.

It was his choice to grab the case from DPD. HIS decision.
He could have let the investigation run it's course.

HE said he would try this case personally.

With the additional charges, I think Nifong is screwed. They have him dead to rights on the DNA evidence.

"Nifong has been translated, in another article, as asserting no lawyer school gave him proper training on dealing with the media"

In past cases, police officers have screwed something up, and upon being sued or charged criminally, have tried to assert that they didn't know something relevant to the case. The courts are not sympathetic to that view and the words "You knew or should have known" is the best sympathy the police will get. The same type of reasoning is going to be applied to Nifong if he tries to say that his training was not adequate. The courts will tell him "You knew or should have known" about the legal constraints in your own state about making public prejudicial remarks pre-trial. The courts have a philosophy that the "Government" knows all, and Mike Nifong, whether or not he likes it, is part of the "Government."

One of the things I noticed while watching the hearing this morning was Freedman talking about what a busy schedule he has and why he hasn't done much work on Nifong's case.
Could it be he may jump ship and fire his client, or has Nifong told him he better be in for the long haul?
