Strong diplomacy, no grunts on the Iraq streets, and withdrawal, will make it all better, says Webb. Bush is a symp of evil corporations, say Webb, the right kind of action is bringing the Iraq war to a prompt end. And there you have it.If only it were true that the factions in Iraq hate each other because of the presence of American troops, and that presence is what drives them to terrorism. That would just make it all so simple. Pity the guy is full of bovine excrement, and is a demogogue.

Mr. Hubris got Webb right by the short hairs. He contradicted himeslef within the space of ten seconds and made unsupportable claims about the military not supporting the war. Next time he should use an editor.

Yeah, pretty much what he said during the campaign. But you have to remember, his opponent said "macaca", so we had to get rid of him for Webb.

IIUC, Webb wrote his response. Seems to me that raising the Korea example to justify withdrawal was a huge mistake that the GOP should pounce all over. Now that N. Korea has become the first rogue state to acquire nuke weapons, one of the biggest proliferation threats, and a loose cannon capable of nuke blackmail against Japan (and shortly our west coast) that Korea solution doesn't appear to have worked out so well. Do we want to replicate that in Iraq, where if we leave half the country effectively becomes Iran right as they are about to acquire nukes?
