A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos): 1.22.07

The President and the First Lady spent the weekend at Camp David, the President no doubt working on his State of the Union address.

There is only one new photograph of the President today but on the Anniversary of Roe V Wade being decided click here for details of the case it was fitting that the President made a telephone call to the March for Life parcipants.

Although there were no public engagements or those that were photographed anyway obviously the President has been hard at work today probably putting finishing touches/practicing his State of the Union address which he is due to deliver tomorrow to a joint session of congress. Today in fact nominations were sent to the Senate for nominees the President announced his intention to nominate a while back J. Michael McConnell and John D. Negroponte Click here for details.

In theme of President's telephone call today I have selected the following photos relating to "Snowflake" babies

Also a selection of other photos of the President with babies and children showing his undoubted love and enjoyment of youngsters - he would make a wonderful grandfather and I am certain is a wonderful uncle.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

Hey swm, what a coinkydink. I made spaghetti today. I didn't make meatballs, just browned ground beef with onions then cooked that with the sauce. I thought about making midgy meatballs right AFTER I plopped the ground beef package into the pan. That's usually the time I remember that I wanted to make a batch of meatballs with the 'ghetti.

Great idea for a presidential-photo starved audience! This baby's tummy was begging for a raspberry.

I love this photo. I wonder how baby Trey is doing.

Our President with the children turns this blue Monday into a great one! Thank you snugs for posting these. Do you also have the ones of him and the young boy fishing? Those were the most touching I have ever seen.

I had precooked meatballs and jarred sauce. Just dumped them together and heated it up! I don't normally use the precooked ones, just browned ground beef. I save making the meatballs for porcupines!

DESERTION

The New Orleans Saints are getting their butts kicked by the Chicago Bears right now. And a few days from now, a lot of people who rode the Saints bandwagon will jump off, climb on the wagon for one of the Superbowl teams and pretend they were there all along. That happens, of course - everyone knows what a "fair-weather" friend or supporter is. It occurs to me that we see the same thing in politics, as well, even more often. Deserters always make excuses, but in the end few people show loyalty under the test, no matter how much it is deserved by the man they desert.

History will vindicate George Walker Bush, not only as a good President, but as one of our best. Not only because of the tax cuts which reignited the economy, not only because he was the first President to seriously try to reform Social Security, not only because he saw us through the 9/11 crisis without either a rash or cowardly result, but because he stood by his people, especially listening to the military and making decisions by what was best in the long run. For everyone concerned.

Few people will agree now. It has become quite fashionable to show a backbone of butter, or worse to falsely insult the President if one can make points off it. I heard more than one Republican this past week try to pretend that President Bush did not know how hard the fight would be in Iraq, a baseless lie obvious to anyone who bothers to recall any of his State of the Union addresses or his response to early and constant whining from the press. It is those politicians who never found themselves willing to bear the burden or keep the commitment, who so falsely try to shift their own guilt onto the President. We've certainly seen that before. Such cowards blamed Ford for Vietnam, and Reagan for Lebanon, while they themselves never found it convenient to stand with the President when the nation itself required such a sacrifice.

I AM WRITING TODAY'S PIECE AS SOMETHING OF A BOOKMARK. THE DAY MOST CERTAINLY WILL COME WHEN MANY PRETEND THAT THEY STOOD WITH PRESIDENT BUSH BUT ONLY THOSE WHO STAND WITH HIM NOW CAN HONESTLY CLAIM THAT HONOR!!

I stand with the President, as always, and support his efforts wholeheartedly. And so I condemn the desertion of pretenders and enemies who thought to fool the party and the nation.

THERE ARE POLLS AND THEN THERE ARE POLLS!!

The following is a polling update that I posted (in various forms) on several threads today:

Predictably, the MSM is using its 'manufactured' polls to convince the American public that EVERYONE is against both the War in Iraq and President Bush . . . Don't believe it!

I encourage you to review new polling results from the most respected INDEPENDENT pollster in the business today:
THE BATTLEGROUND POLL 2007

Among other things, you will discover the following:

WAR IN IRAQ
46% war worth fighting
48% war not worth fighting
[. . . a even spit rather than a 70% majority against!]

53% of electorate coalesce around the President's stated goal of forces staying until the situation is confirmed stable (32%) or the President's plan for a troop surge to stabilize the situation quickly (21%) -- hardly looks like a repudiation of the President's approach to me?!

PRESIDENT BUSH
42% JA rating
45% Favorability rating
[FYI: For survey respondents, job approval and favorability ratings have become synonymous!]

61% LIKABILITY RATING
[FYI: The Battleground Poll remains the only poll that consistently tracks a president's 'likability rating'. All MSM pollsters produced likability ratings until their boy Clinton became president and couldn't get his LR above 40%!]

BattleGround Poll: Republican Strategic Analysis
By Ed Goeas

"Continuing a trend seen throughout his Presidency, the (President's) personal approval rating remains high at sixty-one (61%) of likely voters approving of him personally, a sign that the President has an opening to at some point move his image and JA rating net positive. On this measure 93% of Republicans and 56% of Independents approve of him. The President continues to have a considerable amount of personal good will not only with his base Republican voters, but also with those key Independent voters."

You will find more polling statistics and analysis at
http://www.tarrance.com/Republican-Analysis.pdf

AP-AOL POLL (IPSOS REID)
BTW: I find it interesting that the most biased of the opinion pollsters, AP-AOL (ipsos-reid), actually shows the President's JA rating UP from last month from 32% to 36%--if re-weighted to compensate for the poll's 9 point oversampling of Democrats, the AP poll would put the President's JA rating in the 40s.

Additionally, AP-AOL discovered that a healthy majority (53%-58%) of the 'adults' they surveyed viewed the President as likeable, decisive and strong -- again, if re-weighted to compensate for the poll's oversampling of Democrats, the AP poll would put the President's ratings on these personal characteristics in the 60 percentile range!

I absolutely adore the photos of the President and 'his babies' . . . George W Bush has a genuine heart for children -- which his remarks today at the annual Right To Live March only serve to underscore!!

I didn't know you could buy precooked meatballs! What a deal. I hate making them, and I hate big meatballs because you just have to cut them up and they always seem to squirt out from under my fork and make a mess, and I don't want to use a knife and fork to eat spaghetti, so I like to make small ones that don't need to be cut.
