A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos): 1.22.07

The President and the First Lady spent the weekend at Camp David, the President no doubt working on his State of the Union address.

There is only one new photograph of the President today but on the Anniversary of Roe V Wade being decided click here for details of the case it was fitting that the President made a telephone call to the March for Life parcipants.

Although there were no public engagements or those that were photographed anyway obviously the President has been hard at work today probably putting finishing touches/practicing his State of the Union address which he is due to deliver tomorrow to a joint session of congress. Today in fact nominations were sent to the Senate for nominees the President announced his intention to nominate a while back J. Michael McConnell and John D. Negroponte Click here for details.

In theme of President's telephone call today I have selected the following photos relating to "Snowflake" babies

Also a selection of other photos of the President with babies and children showing his undoubted love and enjoyment of youngsters - he would make a wonderful grandfather and I am certain is a wonderful uncle.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

He was so right about his post. This whole site has turned into another DU as if we needed another one. I have just about quit logging in here. If I wanted to read all of that junk, then I would go to another site/sites. There are plenty of them around. It is a disgrace. Y'all know that I do not often post bad comments but this has gone too far. I use to spend hours here but now, I am reading more and crocheting more. It is a shame that this site has come to what it is now. Ok. That is my soapbox and I will step down off it. Y'all do some research and read the titles of threads that have been posted here in the last few weeks.

Good grief. This is getting blown WAY out of proportion.

All,

I was lurking on the Dose Saturday afternoon, January 20. I witnessed the entire exchange between Common Tator, SnarlinCubBear and Wolfstar and read all of the comments involved before they were pulled.

I wasn’t going to comment on this at all--it was such a minor event. But CT’s bruised ego seems so bent on making this molehill into a mountain, slandering good Freepers in the process, that I have to say something.

So this post is for everyone who might have read Common Tator’s inflammatory post on this thread (#189) and assumed he’s the victim in all this. That appears to be his intention. But there are some facts that he has omitted from his rants that need to be put back into context.

The Facts:

Common Tator posted this comment on last Friday’s Dose, January 19, post #100. In that comment he made a remark about immigration. We all know what a hot potato immigration is. You mention it at your own risk.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1770492/posts?page=100#100

The next morning, January 20, SnarlinCubBear replied to that comment at post #160. She took CT’s immigration remarks personally.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1770492/posts?page=160#160

Please click the links above and read the comments for yourselves. Everything was civilized, but as you can see the words were becoming a bit heated.

This friction continued when Common Tator directed his next post (#174) to SnarlinCubBear.

Now this is where things got a bit sticky.

Later that day, Wolfstar piggy-backed the Saturday Dose onto Friday’s thread at post #176.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1770492/posts?page=176#176

SnarlinCubBear’s reply to Common Tator appeared at almost the same time at post #180.

This was bad timing, of course. Neither Snarlin nor Wolfstar knew that their posts were going to interfere with each other. It was just one of those things.

To her credit, Snarlin recognized that her post was putting Wolfstar in an awkward position and she asked to have it removed.

Please pull my last post. I did not realize that you were piggy-back posting and I do not intend to ruin the thread for everyone with my post. It's not appropriate for the dose.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1770492/posts?page=183#183

(NOTE: For those that missed it, Snarlin’s #180 wasn’t a brief comment. It was quite lengthy and thought out; a lot of time had gone into it—just as much as anything Common Tator had posted. Yet once she saw that it was in the way, she didn’t hesitate to have it removed. That was a mature decision by Snarlin and it reflects well on her, in my opinion.)

Wolfstar also made a mature decision by asking the mods to remove not only Snarlin’s #180 but CT’s #174 as well. This was nothing personal against CT, as he seems to think it was. This was Wolfstar, our friend and trusted custodian of Sanity Island, trying to defuse a situation before it got worse.

(Wolfstar to SnarlinCubBear) Per your request, I'm asking the Admin Moderator to pull your post #180, but also Common Tator's post #174, which is the one to which you responded.

In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with either post, but you're right. We try as best we can to keep such discussions off the Dose. I'm asking that they be pulled only so that they don't set an unwanted precedent on the Dose.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1770492/posts?page=185#185

So this is the way I see it:

Wolfstar did nothing wrong.

SnarlinCubBear did nothing wrong.

Common Tator did nothing wrong … at the time.

As I said, this was a minor event. And the whole thing would have been forgotten three days ago if Common Tator and a few other people had just let it pass.

But no.

Common Tator couldn’t accept that one of his “commontators” was deleted for the sake of the Dose and reacted like a child, opus-ing out over this silly thing, not once, but twice. His most recent opus at post #189 on this thread even included a FRAGMENT OF A PRIVATE MESSAGE that he chose to share with us in public. Not only is that immature, it’s irresponsible and potentially dangerous.

I won’t even get into the secret behind-the-back mail I received today about this from a fourth party, other than to say that I’m disappointed in the person who sent it. And grow up! This isn’t high school.

For Heaven’s sake, the country is at war. The president is going to address the nation tonight in front of a hostile crowd. And here we are, preoccupied with this horsesh!t.

Wolfstar, my friend, you did everything right and for that you’re getting dragged through the mud. It’s disgraceful and you are the one that is owed the apology. A HUGE apology.

Wolfstar

You do not realize what has happened. 'Common Tator' was the pre-eminent analyst of political and media events on Free Republic. His posts were followed by people actively in politics and in the media itself. His posts were read by people in the White House.

Has anyone heard from him?

Wolfstar has ever right to censor what I write.

What the hell is happening to this place?

Jonny, thank you so very much for your kindness toward me, and for all you do. I don't want to risk having this matter continue, so will leave my public comments to you at this.
