Confidence in Bush Leadership at All-Time Low, Poll Finds President Bush will deliver his State of the Union address on Tuesday at the weakest point of his presidency, facing deep public dissatisfaction over his Iraq war policies and eroding confidence in his leadership, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll. With a major confrontation between Congress and the president brewing over Iraq, Americans overwhelmingly oppose Bush's plan to send an additional 21,500 troops to the conflict. By wide margins, they prefer that congressional Democrats, who now hold majorities in both chambers, rather than the president, take the lead in setting the direction for the country. Iraq dominates the national agenda, with 48 percent of Americans calling the war the single most important issue they want Bush and the Congress to deal with this year. No other issue rises out of single digits. The poll also found that the public trusts congressional Democrats over Bush to deal with the conflict by a margin of 60 percent to 33 percent. The president will use his speech to try to rally public opinion behind the troop deployment plan, but during the past 10 days he has made no headway in changing public opinion. The Post-ABC poll shows that 65 percent of Americans oppose sending more troops to Iraq; it was 61 percent immediately after the president unveiled the plan on Jan. 10 in a nationally televised address. The Senate plans to take up a nonbinding bipartisan resolution opposing the president's new plan for troop deployments. But many Democrats in both chambers advocate even stronger measures designed to block the deployment of the additional troops, including capping the number of troops at their levels of Jan. 1 or putting strings on the money for the new troops......

I'm a man without a political party, but not a man without a Country, and I am sick and tired of ALL THE POLITICIANS handing the keys over too this Land. It's intolerable, and unforgivable.
Immigration is one of America's least concerns at the moment. Public opinion puts it at #9 on the priorities list. # 1 is the War in Iraq.

People in this country and that includes you, should be taught American history, which should include how our government and political system work. They should also be taught that no man or woman, politician or otherwise, is perfect, infallible, and able to make this world heaven on earth for all.
What's actually "intolerable" and "unforgivable", is someone like you, lecturing anyone else, when you completely abrogated your civic duty ( VOTING ), until after 9/11 !

Typical of the MSM, ABCNews/WashPost did NOT publish the internals for this poll.
HOWEVER, the new AP-AOL (Ipsos Reid) put the President's JA rating at 36% and they posted a 9 point oversampling for Democrats/Democrat-leaning Independents!
BTW: I find it interesting that the most biased of the opinion pollsters, AP-AOL (ipsos-reid), actually shows the President's JA rating UP from last month from 32% to 36%--if re-weighted to compensate for the poll's 9 point oversampling of Democrats, the AP poll would put the President's JA rating in the 40s.
Additionally, AP-AOL discovered that a healthy majority (53%-58%) of the 'adults' they surveyed viewed the President as likeable, decisive and strong -- again, if re-weighted to compensate for the poll's oversampling of Democrats, the AP poll would put the President's ratings on these personal characteristics in the 60 percentile range!

I'm asking them too be honest. And stop funding people as in the picture above. If you are under the belief I hate President Bush, you are incorrect. I don't hate the man, I disagree with some of his policies, this is all. I place no trust in any politician, Republican or democrat. And when I do disagree with some of the policies of President Bush, does that make me a heretic? Do you always agree with your wife / husband (life partner)? I'm not against America, just the opposite, I'm damn well for it. I love this Land. But I'll not have leaders send it down the tubes for personal gain.

Oh give me a break. Everyone had a time that marked when they started paying attention. Mine was the Clinton scandle and presidency. Many people think that it is a waste of time voting and sometimes I would have to agree.
Also, something more recent: The Border Patrol agents going to jail situation. How many Republican Congressman have written the White House about this matter, nearly 50? As of just a few days ago, there was absolutely no response from the White House.
When in a leadership position, a leader must remain on top of every situation. Being clueless, aloof, unresponsive and oblivious is disastrous. It's a glaring sign on a poor leader.
There hasn't been an American politician, EVER, who could or did meet your vaunted, idealized concept of what he or she should be.
America has two and only two major political parties. One of these candidates wins no matter WHAT the candidate is running for. You must learn to be pragmatic, view things from the world of the possible, and stop imagining that ANY politician is going to be able to do everything you want him or her to be and do and say. And though some then say that they won't "vote/support the lesser of the two evils", it is ALWAYS better to vote for someone who will give you some of what you want, than to act in a way which will not only not do that, but make things worse than anything that you can even begin to imagine.
Are you claiming that President Bush has/is doing things for his own personal gain?
Yes, a lot of people ignore politics and that IS a terrible thing.
I started paying attention, REAL attention, when I was about 8 years old. My parents and grandparents has just about everything to do with that and it's a shame that most parents neglect that part of their children's education.

I always supported Bush on the war, except the prosecution of the war has been disastrous. Hopefully, with the new team in place, this will change.
I also voted for him (President George Bush) twice, and I'm glad I did. To have done otherwise was a far greater error.
Our President asked for our prayers, and I still pray he and his staff come out with a great finish.
