As Dan Balz and I wrote in today's Post, presidential candidates on both sides are focused heavily on bolstering their Internet presence through a variety of new tools, including video, podcasts and even online video chats.
To brainstorm and implement these new innovations, the campaigns are chasing after a small group of people in their 20s and early 30s versed in the language of the new media.
One of the real "gets" on the GOP side of that world is Patrick Ruffini, who served as the Web master of President Bush's 2004 reelection campaign and then served in a similar role at the Republican National Committee. Ruffini gained recognition in national Republican circles for his blog, which was one of the first serious attempts on the Republican side at building an online community.
Ruffini has signed on with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani's presidential campaign as an e-campaign adviser. The hiring is only the latest sign that Giuliani is serious about a run for national office in 2008.
In building a national staff, Giuliani has recruited a number of former Bush operatives to his cause -- the latest being Brent Seaborn, who will be the director of strategy for the campaign. Seaborn was intimately involved in the microtargeting efforts credited with growing the number of Republican votes for Bush in 2004. Seaborn was a co-founder of TargetPoint Consulting, which specialized in microtargeting and data mining.

I don't understand or why gays are an issue you care about, but regarding abortion - none of the presidents can do anything about abortion. That's up to the Supreme Court.

The president appoints the SCOTUS. Rino Rudy has a history of appoint liberals like himslef to positions. IMHO his SC appointments would ne little different from Hitlery's.

If you work on a campaign encourage you candidate to go with that. Let us know how you make out?
Oops, I almost forgot the anti-gay rights and anti-immigration crowds and those people hung up on getting strict constitutional judges. We'd be better off without them too.

While in Ohio, Rudy called into the Bill Cunningham radio show. Speaking about the Supreme Court, Rudy said: "Justices Roberts and Alito were both colleagues of mine [in the Reagan Justice Department] - people I worked with and I admire tremendously. I thought that they were inspired choices that the President made - inspired in many ways, because they also were people who had a strong conservative background and strict constructionists." He added, "Justice Scalia was also a colleague of mine...and he probably would have been my choice for Chief Justice."
I am a life member of the NRA, and I do pay close sttention to their endorsements. It is not the sole factor I use but is is of great importance to me.

Amazing the stuff some posters choose to believe or just plain make up to suit their hatred for candidate this or candidate that.
He can say what he likes. I have looked at his past appointments. He has a history of appointing liberals. I have no reason to believe he would not continue to do so. Actions speak louder then words.

I live in TX, and am supporting Duncan Hunter. But will go third party before voting for a liberal like Rino Rudy.
Must I correct you again on Rudy's stance. On Foxnews he said that Ruth Bader Ginsburg is an ideal justice.

Just because you say "Rudy said...." doesn't make it true any more than when Al Gore said he invented the internet. Actions speak louder than words. Rudy will appoint people that share his liberal values.
I think it interesting that they are talking on the Ruffini site about how wooden Hillary comes across in her declaration of candidacy ... whereas Obama is comfortable speaking off the cuff.
Fortunately Giuliani is an outstanding speaker ... one of the best who is comfortable thinking on his feet.
