As Dan Balz and I wrote in today's Post, presidential candidates on both sides are focused heavily on bolstering their Internet presence through a variety of new tools, including video, podcasts and even online video chats.
To brainstorm and implement these new innovations, the campaigns are chasing after a small group of people in their 20s and early 30s versed in the language of the new media.
One of the real "gets" on the GOP side of that world is Patrick Ruffini, who served as the Web master of President Bush's 2004 reelection campaign and then served in a similar role at the Republican National Committee. Ruffini gained recognition in national Republican circles for his blog, which was one of the first serious attempts on the Republican side at building an online community.
Ruffini has signed on with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani's presidential campaign as an e-campaign adviser. The hiring is only the latest sign that Giuliani is serious about a run for national office in 2008.
In building a national staff, Giuliani has recruited a number of former Bush operatives to his cause -- the latest being Brent Seaborn, who will be the director of strategy for the campaign. Seaborn was intimately involved in the microtargeting efforts credited with growing the number of Republican votes for Bush in 2004. Seaborn was a co-founder of TargetPoint Consulting, which specialized in microtargeting and data mining.

Come on a51, those stories are skewed. Since when is the MSM a reliable source on Free Republic.
Rudy's issue with gun control was about getting guns away from gang bangers in his city - not about taking guns away from legal gun owners. Drive-bys are a real problem in the inner cities.
Support whom you will in the primaries. But if Hunter tanks, I hope you have the sense to do what must be done to deny the Clintons' another tenure in the White House.
If Rudy's such a s 'liberal' was the the left and the media after him relentlessly during his term pre-9/11? Yes, he has liberal views on some issues, but he has a lot of very conservative views in some other key areas. Reagan he's not when it comes to ideology, but there's not too many Reagans available for '08. Instead, he is one of the few who can articulate the importance of the WOT and has strong credentials on law and order issues.
I'm not too sure what to make of them and if they are true or not. I'm sure most evangelicals are not really into that. But I"m tired of them threatening to bolt. After a while it has no more effect than an annoying pin prick.
No two way about it My2. I am on that train. I will support the Republican nominee for president.
"A vote for Duncan Hunter or any other 3rd party candidate is a vote for Obama Hussein."
Correcting: "A vote on the part of any FReeper for any 3rd party candidate is a vote for Obama Hussein. DUers and ilk should be encouraged to vote 3rd party at every opportunity."
Are you keeping a Rudy list? Can you please add me?
Thanks!
mary
You bet! Welcome to the GiuliARMY! It's growing bigger and bigger! :-)
Can you add me too? Thanks
As much as I like him, I am well aware that it's an uphill battle. I will support the GOP nominee.
McCain, Rudy, Romney any of these would be better than what the Dem's have to offer.
I hope after the next year of the Pelosi/Reid Congressional Leadership Extravaganza dissaffected GOP'ers (whether that's the conservatives or the moderates) will see how dangerous the other side can be for "a little while".
I'm thinking of the book by that FBI Agent a few years back...in which he talked about Chelsea refering to the Secret Service as pigs and when reprimanded, said "Well, that's what my parents call them." So we really want those who serve our nation to be refered to as pigs and worse.
Sure!
I agree with your every word.
At least conservatives would have stood on principals.
Who cares if Hillary is elected - she won't be that bad. Certainly better than those Republican RINO's.
LOL! Correct! :0)
Woo Hoo! More Barney cam!
Ruffini's blog has been around for a while. It's one of the better-known and better weblogs. Not famous, but ahead of the pack.
