I found no new photos of the president today but there are some photos of Laura in Paris, at the conference on Missing and Exploited Children. As Tony Snow's assistant conducted the press briefing today, and the State of the Union address is next Tuesday, January 23rd at 9:00 PM EST, it seems likely it is crunch time for getting the address ready.
Defense Secretary Gates continues his visit to Iraq, in Basra and Talil, where he is being briefed.
Jay Hein, Director of the WH Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, discussed the President's compassion agenda and the recently launched Compassion in Action Roundtables.
Text of Dana Perino's press briefing today (information on SoTU).

I've been out visiting some friends and just got back. how cold is it today in WyomingEvery night it has been around zero and gets up to 20 deg F in day time. Gathering firewood is taking most of my time. I saw your pictures of your wind damage there. I didn't know you could get such wind inland.

Why is 'political discussion' not welcomed on the Dose?I was wondering that too. But I want to be cooperative and maybe our subject was a little too heavy for Sanity Island.

You and others here write so well. What a grand bunch of people you are. I just like to listen like when I was a kid listening to my uncles after Sunday dinner. (The women gathered in the kitchen)

I am so sorry. I won't post on the dose again.
There are few places on FR that I can post my take on events. It is obviously not the place for me to be posting.
It is time for me to stop posting on FR.. and I will.
Goodbye.

Oh I hope you won't stop posting. I have appreciated your comments so much.

No. I have read your commentary on FR for years. I do not wish this.

Thanks, Wolfie. Your kitties sound like so much fun ... there is nothing like the delight that pets bring. I'll be remembering this image for Tuesday's speech:

Her kitties are beautiful and filled with love. I am going to TRY to watch the SOTU by blocking my view of Evita with my hand.

Pray for VP. He has to sit next to her. He'll stand to applaud and she'll remain seated.

Let's see if Sheila Jackson Lee breaks someone's arm to get to him first.

Please don't stop posting on the dose.
Your comments add much needed support of our President.
I have come to depend on you and Dr. Deb. for some of the only honest (truthful) commentary to be found in today's biased media.

I am going to TRY to watch the SOTU by blocking my view of Evita with my hand. I'm considering taping a picture of Daffy Duck over her face. Here's how Wikipedia describes Daffy today:
In the majority of these roles, the selfish, neurotic, and spotlight-hungry Daffy characterized by Chuck Jones is the preferred portrayal.

It is fortunate that your offices are open on a Saturday since we had down turn in business (though this is now almost totally reversed) we have not opened the offices on a Saturday apart from directors who wish to catch up on things no one else is allowed to come in.
We occasionally have overtime in the works if a contract has to go out but apart from that everyone works a strict 37 hour week which you can do between 7.30am - 5.45pm Monday - Thursday and 7.30am - to about 2 - 3.00pm on Friday. So if something crops up and you do not get your hours in then if you have it you have to take holiday or in special circumstances if you can do it work extra hours the following week. If you do not have holiday left then again you maybe able to tag this on next year's leave or ultimately you would be paid less that week. Although we are salaried etc it is still based on the hours we work not on the work we do.
I am glad you were able to make your time up.

It was reminiscent of the hurricane of 20 years ago though not as bad and of course our weather experts love saying it was not a hurricane because of the actual wind speed but it was as far as anyone who lived through it in Britain and as near as we are going to get hopefully to one.
Trees were uprooted then many of them over 100s of years old, ares of Kew Gardens were destroyed and only in the last 5 - 10 years are they being restored back to anything like how it was; in some cases they never will because they do not have the species any more to restore it and if even if they do we will not see it in our life time.
With regards to us in Ashford we are in fact only about 10 miles from the coast and the English Channel in fact is one of the worst areas for weather. It may only be 26 miles across at the shortage point but has a long history of ship wrecks and is notorious for choppy seas.
For example when I was on holiday in the Greek Isles a few years ago we took a boat trip and it was fairly choppy but nothing compared to some ferry crossings I have experienced. However the so called tough northerners who delight in calling us soft southerners were demanding road transport for the the return trip and unless it was laid on they would demand their money back as it had been advertised as calm mill pond sailing trip. The holiday company gave in and laid on the transport, most disappointing to us Southerners who had looked forward to similar journey back.
I will take a couple of photos later today of how my fence has been destroyed up the garden. We have done temporary repair until we can afford to renew it completely. Also want to wait a few days in case the weather has not completely passed.

Tator please do not stop posting this is just an issue that most of feel is certainly best left alone on the dose as it is a refuge from the hurly burly of the other threads.
