Good. I hate Japanese cars.

Great story in 'Fast Times' (December, 2006) about quality philosophy at Toyota, and specifically the Georgetown, KY plant. It paints a picture of a relentless search for continuous quality improvement, as almost a cult like religion. It didn't convince me. I found it impossible to believe that every day Toyota workers are so inspired, just didn't seem in parallel with human nature.

"Good. I hate Japanese cars"

Good, we can ignore any further comments from you as being completely biased, then.

Study up a bit on W.E. Deming. Japan took his ideas to heart after studying them to death and yes ..made a near religion out of it. Meanwhile Detroit laughed and for 40+ years turned out cars with "style" etc.. The fundamental differences between the two manufacturing approaches is not trivial. Toyota etc will continues to kick Detroit's butt for years to come...the empty suits still don't get it.

Oh, boy, so do I. I grit my teeth and scowl every time I get in my 4Runner because I can't experience the pure joy of American-built cars. My Toyota purrs like a kitten, all the fittings and finish are in place and have never rattled/fallen off/come unglued and it's quiet as a church on Saturday night.

It makes me year for the days when I had American cars that resembled Pinewood Derby racers with their dodgy construction and death-by-a-thousand-cuts little failures.

Of course, I'm probably just falling prey to those nasty capitalists who produce a quality product at an acceptable price. Just gullible, I guess.
