Nickelodeon is a brainwashing channel. Unfortunately I cannot block specific shows so I've blocked the channel. I have 4 kids from the ages of 2 to 13.

If you don't already know, Nick is under the same ownership as MTV. They've shown programs in the past that have been more than inappropriate.

One such show discussed "different family types" and was geared to promote Gay parents. The show's target audience was 6 to 10yr olds!

BLOCK NICK!!

Get tivo and set to only allow kids to watch shows that you specifically allow. All other tv can be password protected. Works well for our family with young kids. The only crap left is the commercials (which can be plenty crappy).

Amen! Nick is obsessed with bodily functions and left wing indoctrination.

BLOCK NICK!!

I don't think so. Maybe they're owned by the same company that runs a really awful network. And maybe, once a every two months, some political or social BS gets propagated in a mild form on a special of some sort. The channel is on quite a bit at our house, and if the show you describe was aired, it was a rare thing.

Depriving children of Sponge Bob because every once in a while the channel airs something objectionable is a bit extreme. Overall the channel is very creative much easier for a parent to stomach than its competitors like Cartoon Network. Sponge Bob is sometimes hilarious, and rarely annoying. Fairly Odd Parents is easy for both kids and parents to watch. Some complain about vague references to sexual themes, but vague is the key word here; way over the heads of 6 year olds and harmless to their little minds They used to have a show called “Hey Arnold” that was excellent, and “Rocket Power” always made me wish I had grown up on the California coast. The shows aimed at older kids can be inane, but rarely push any social or political buttons.

I'm not pleased that they have a show called "Naked Brothers Band". Didn't one person there stop and think: "Hmm, maybe a kids channel should leave suggestive words out of a show title"? On the whole though, if you really look at Nick as something that needs to be banned in your house, you should conider getting rid of cable all together, give away all your possessions, going up on a hill, and waitint for the rapture.

So do (Viacom) MTV own:
1)VH-1 (obvious),
2)MTV2, MTV3
3)"Spike TV"(Which used to be TNN, sadly)
4)(And this may surprise you CMT: Country Music Television)

There are probably others, but to me Viacom is THE WORST Media company that exists Today!

Yep, they certainly indoctrinate from the cradle to the grave. Viacom (the parent company) owns all of the following:

MTV
MTV2
mtvU
Nickelodeon
BET
Nick at Nite
TV Land
NOGGIN
VH1
Spike TV
CMT
Comedy Central
Showtime
The Movie Channel
Flix
Sundance Channel
CBS

It certainly shed's light on why I'm always asking myself "Why is there nothing good on cable these days?"
