Nuclear Blast on TV's '24' Causes Fallout for Fox (PC crybaby alert)

"How much longer? I hear someone," says the nervous terrorist with a heavy Middle Eastern accent, just before U.S. agents storm a warehouse where a nuclear device is being assembled. Confusion reigns, drama builds, the device is detonated and a mushroom cloud looms over Los Angeles. Such is primetime television in the age of terrorism, or as some critics charge, has "24" gone too far?
"It's the closest television comes to roller coasters," said David Bianculli, television critic for the New York Daily News. "It works well dramatically, and as far as feeding fears, that's what '24' is all about."
Sut Jhally, co-producer and co-director of the film "Hijacking Catastrophe," says the dramatic action in the show creates a dangerous climate in which the public loses some of its perspective on what's real and what's not. Of course that may be a minority opinion given the show's enormous popularity.

"One thing's for sure, no need to worry about the other 4 nukes. The one man who can put them together blew himself up."
Good catch. How about the ticket taker in the subway car last week. Do those guys even exist anymore?

After the first two nights,
24 is proving again why it is the best show on television. Maybe
ever on television. The writers (whatever their political persuasion) are masterful at playing both sides of the issue. They also give you a real sense of the conflict between those on the "front lines" and those running things from the comfort of an office. There's just not always a black and white --- and yet, sometimes there IS.
Last night's ending was simply brilliant. I was expecting the usual "find the nuke" cliffhanger for the next couple of weeks, but they cut right to the chase and made everybody sit up and take notice. Fasten your seatbelts...

Nope that was not the story. the story line there was, if the neighbor is being abused there are good people out there waiting to help them. Yes, the story line was terrifying , but it can happen in the USA. Last night one of the heroes was a former terrorist who killed Americans in the gulf war.Pay attention, then he started working with us to save us. Whether we like it or not scary or not a suitcase nuke could happen in the USA and last night on 24 it did. Thank God it was only a show on TV. In fairness to the liberals who hide sometimes in here , the fact is they brought out everything last night. The fact that there may be abuse on good Arab Americans and the fact that rats may be hiding among us.If a bomb does go off in America , the lives we lose will be tremendous, and it will take years upon years to recover. Some people deny terrorists exist and some blame us and Jews , fact it if we do not watch and protect the USA even on the local level this could happen. We need everybody absolutely everybody to fight this fight. If a bomb goes off nobody in ground zero is left behind and then there are the perimeters which will be affected. Also the radiation is included . If you did not like the show last night , I am sorry. If you did not get the message , sorry about that too. But can you tell me and the people in this room that this will absolutely never happen?

Curtis trying to kill Assad (with good reason)Not good at all, MOF such unprofessional behaviour strikes me as out of character for him. I really doubt that any self-respecting operative would go off half-cocked and try to kill that best source of information available; a more realistic scenario would be for Curtis to kill Assad after the terrorists are stopped.

"It works well dramatically, and as far as feeding fears, that's what '24' is all about." It's basically a "reality" show.

Those who are going to watch an 'awards show' are beyond reaching anyway. "24"'s true ratings could be 19.0 instead of 10.5 and Nielsen would never know about it. Because their system does not take into account DVRs such as Tivo.

And how did the President's brother become President after he was killed? Why didn't the Vice President take over? I find this part of the story line very confusing. The first president Palmer was three presidents ago, at least.
Apparently Wayne Palmer won the last election.

He is. Logan was a Republican, the first Palmer was a democrat. After Logan's (the Nixon look alike) duplicity with the terrorists then of course the first Palmer's brother was a shoe in to win the election. :) Unfortunately he is not his brother.
Sigh..... Can you tell I'm an avid fan of 24? :)
To: misterrob
It was clear to me that Curtis was disobeying orders. Was sad to see him go but he let his emotions get in the way of the mission. NOT GOOD.
Logan was the VP under the first President Palmer. He
got caught up in corruption and was thrown out. I guess his VP became President as he was involved in exposing Logan as was Logans wife and various other people and then he lost election due to the liberal weenie voters who elected the 2nd President Wayne Palmer.

God forbid that we might actually think that a muz-lum or a-rab might actually bear hate and contempt for Americans and westerners. God forbid that we might actually get the real idea that these thugs, murderers and terrorists want to kill every single one of us, enslave us, and enslave women. God forbid that we actually might believe they hate us for whatever warped mind they might think of that hate in. Godbid that we see them training small children with weapons and body bombs to kill Jews, Americans and westerners. Lord help us with the homosexual loving socialist dimocrats are in charge. Cause shortly after that, Issss-lum is going to be in charge of THEM.

Unfortunately the Sheeple believe the TV war is legitimate but the one President Bush is fighting is illegitimate.

Two years have elapsed since last season and Jack being kidnapped by the Chinese.
When David Palmer was assasinated, he was already an ex-President. President Logan was deposed and the VP took over and then there was an election. Palmer's younger brother ran and won on the sympathy vote (a parallel to Jack and Bobby Kennedy?).

If there was no such TV show as "24" there would be no prejudice and stereotyping against Moslems and everybody would realize what nonviolent, gentle and peaceful folks they are, just based on the way they conduct themselves all over the world.
Let me ponder that for a while.

His brother was not Prez when he was killed last season. Logan was President. Wayne was elected according to the script 3mos ago.

LOL, I never watched the show until the 4th season when CAIR was complaining about the show using Muslims as terrorists. I started watching that season, watched ever since. I borrowed the previous seasons from the library and watched them. now I'm hooked!
