KIRKWOOD, Mo. (AP) - While his alleged kidnapper was away at work, teenager Shawn Hornbeck apparently had access to a computer, and may have put photos of himself online and posted a chilling message on a site created by his own desperate parents: "How long are you planning to look for your son?"
A series of Web postings under the name "Shawn Devlin" - Devlin is the last name of the man suspected of kidnapping Shawn and posing as his father - came to light after Shawn's rescue from an apartment in Kirkwood last week.

I'm just saying I hope the boys weren't sexually abused. I'm not defending the kidnapper.
Remember, we don't even know if Shawn made the posts or if his kidnapper mades the posts using the name "Shaw Devlin." I read another article (not on FR) that the kidnapper made the posts to taunt the family. That theory made more sense to me.
Could be.
My hope is the same, as is all of us. I don't know of any other reason for an adult not related to the child to kidnap a child, male or female.
Right on Hildy. It is tragic what happened to both these children. Shawn will be affected for the rest of his life. The public has no right to voyeurism over what he endured over the years. That said, I have wondered if the kidnapping of Ben saved Shawn's life. Pedophiles want youngere children. With Ben in the house, Shawn could have been disposed of. God was with him. May God continue to guide him and comfort him now and in the future.
I offer that hiding the truth provides a false sense of protection. I lean more towards your second portion. Indeed, the truth shall set you free.
no, pray for Shawn!
Wow. Sounds like the ones who didn't want to get involved were the police.
When Shawn was 1st reported missing, LE got a 911 call about a child tied up in a pickup truck. They couldn't locate the truck......doesn't sound like "willing" to me.
Elizabeth Smart decided to willingly become the sex slave of a demented, smelly freak?
I believe the only "details" we should even care about are how these POS were able to grab these kids and what did they tell them in order to keep them from seeking help. All the other details are irrelevent except to LE and the DA in order to pile up as many charges as possible.
Chill out people, this thread is just loaded with assumptions and "probably's".
Wait for the facts. We don't know didly about this. Freeper postings don't count as facts, and even stories on Drudge dont necessarily make it true.
no one is at fault here cept the pervert, not the parents of this childor the child!
"Praying for them also helps me not go to the courtroom and kill them personally. (It's difficult to kill someone you ask God to deliver.)"
You are a MUCH bigger individual than I, my friend. God bless you.
I don't think a grown man kidnaps adolescent boys to have the wholesome, Little League experience.
After 4 years with this pervert, any kid would feel dirty, worthless and seriously mentally messed up.
First off, you're right. It is so unseemly that this boy's life is put out there for our speculation. That being said..I think that if he hadn't killed him before, he probably wasn't going to. Devlin knew the cops were looking for him. They had to come back with a warrant. If he was going to do something, seems like he would have done it already. I'm sure, in his weird way, the guy loved Shawn. They've been together, everyday, for over four years.
Under the circumstances of extreme fear that Stephan lived with for years, this was a significant example of courage on his part. Amazing. I doubt any one of us can imagine the kind of psychological bondage that keeps a young person like that under the control of his captor. It defies our ability to comprehend.
This is seriously messed up. Prayers to this boy and his family.
From Channel 5, KSDK:
Neighbors heard "constant banging, screaming, even whimpering" and "a lot of vulgarity" coming from Devlin's apartment.
Oh, got it! Sorry for the huge error in interpretation. Yes, yes, of course. These babies' hearts are broken forever.
My apologies for the blunder.
