Poland enter negotiations with Algeria over gas supplies
Algeria, one of the world's biggest producers of liquified natural gas, could become Poland's major supplier of the resource once the new LNG terminal in Swinoujscie comes on line in 2011.
LNG supplies will be the subject of high-level talks in Warsaw next week between Algeria's energy minister and Polish economy minister Piotr Wozniak. Participating in the talks will also be representatives of Sonantrach, Algeria's state-owned resources group and PGNiG. Poland is looking for partners to supply LNG through the EUR 350 million terminal, which is designed to reduce Poland's dependence on gas imports form Russia.
Should be good for Poland not to rely of Russia for energy needs.
