That blog entry was in 05 and they just now heard about it?....who was operating that blog?
Then when it was going on, they didn't even tell their audience that they had a technical problem, and couldn't go to it. They just ran interviews over the time slot. Despicable.
As I've said in other posts, because our local Fox affiliate carried the first five minutes by audio only, I conclude that they had a technical problem with their cameras.
During the press conference, Shawn indicated he had not attended school during the four years missing.
Can you tell me what time Ben's family will do their press conference.......eastern please. thank you much.
I'm stunned at the lack of priority this major story received in our Newspaper.
sw
11 AM Eastern. Let me qualify that by citing my source, which was the local Fox affiliate KTVI and I heard it a few hours ago!
Can anyone tell me where exactly in Missouri is Shawn from or the Sherrif's dept county where he was found? I would like to send a donation for Shawn and family. I think we all should!
Don't forget we've got perfect 20-20 hindsight when it comes to those blog entries. The name "Devlin" didn't mean a thing until 5:00 PM yesterday. So it is possible that he was leaving a message, and that wasn't being recognized.
I enjoyed your post.
The communities both boys are from, are each about forty miles, or 45 minutes (Richwoods-south) (Beaufort-west) from the metro St. Louis area.
There isn't anyone within one hundred miles who would not be glad to pull the switch on that pig.
Local NBC affilliate confirms Ownby family presser in about 20 mins from now. (or 11 Eastern)
I'm a little surprise that Shawn was actually at the press conference. Poor kid has had enough trauma and they make him face the press? Not sure I'd do the same thing if it was my child.
How did he follow the truck, wouldn't the truck be trying to get out of there just curious. thanks
The small rural community Shawn Hornbeck is from, is Richwoods.
It's on the far outskirts of the suburbs of the St. Louis metro area.
This is a miracle..I was so thrilled and teary when I heard the news..and then the press conference today..Prayers of healing and adjustment for all.
I just found out that Union bank in Union, MIssouri is the place taking donations. NOW if I can just find that number! As soon as I get it I'm going to post and hopefully get some Freeper support for this boy and his family!
When Greta interviewed the boy, he said the truck went past him in the direction he was going toward his home. So he was behind the truck. I didn't get the impression from him that he was intentionally following the truck...but that the truck went down the same road to the boy's home. It was a dead end, so the truck had to turn around in a driveway and go back out.
The boy is not answering questions...just sitting at his mother's side.
His father stated that they debated whether he should be present, but Shawn himself asked to be there, so they honored his wishes.
I know people will be critical of it, but I think they did the right thing, by allowing him to begin to face the glare of media, quickly. There's no evidence that hiding him away for months while he "gets back to normal" would somehow protect him--especially with what he's been through.
They stated he asked for McDonald's last night--and they must take him clothes shopping! They asked the media to respect their privacy now and give them some time to readjust and celebrate privately.
I think the world needed to see Shawn, and ascertain for ourselves that he survived this ordeal, and that there IS hope for other missing children to return.
Aha, they must have had a problem with their satellite feed, and finally got the recording somewhere so it could be aired. Shawn does not answer any questions. He does show reaction to his mother as questions are asked.
I agree, the family did the right thing doing the press conference. Honestly, it isn't our business to judge a families decision on what is best for their child.
