I have a new theory. What if when Devlin brought Ben in he threatened to kill Shawn if he left and vice versa?
Just a thought.
TOny Douglas was the boy who lived in the apartment complex and was Shawns best friend who has been interviewed and said he was over Shawns apartment every day.
Another new theory.
Which goes back to my other post. Maybe... just maybe Devlin had another older captive that he killed when he captured Shawn. Maybe, that captive is already buried on the property that Devlin owns. Possibly, he made Shawn help bury him. Horrible I know, but this is the kind of monster that we might be dealing with.
How do we know that Devlin *owns* any property?

I think to control Shawn he could have told him that if he tells the cops or anyone that he will have someone he knows kill him and his family. So this way, even if Devlin goes to jail there is some other secret person involved and this could have kept Shawn from running away. Anything is possible

From my post of #1200: From another article: Kevin Schroeder, sheriff in Washington County, said that Devlin owned a piece of vacant property in Washington County, about 20 minutes from where Shawn was seized in the rural community of Richwoods.
I wonder if they will be searching that property for remains any time soon?
I want more info on this and what LE is doing to follow it up.

Shawn in living his life between abuse was 'surviving' and doing what he NEEDED to survive the life he was living.
You could be definitly right , Devlin owned 3 guns & may have already killed ....
The guns don't bother me. The kidnappings do.
I think the 911 phone call of a boy being tied up in a pick up truck on the day Shawn disappeared is on page 14-15 on the Shawn page on courtv amber alerts board
the guns are fine but the kidnapper used them to make Shawn fear for his life according to a statement Shawn's dad said . I know guns SAVE Lives there are TONS of posting were a gun owner shoots the %%%%%ing criminal who does home invasion to rob or kill them .

The family members have said that they had no idea that there was a child involved here. Hard to believe that Devlin was never worried that one of those family members might not just drop by his apartment some time.
I just can't get over how this guy had his life 'compartmentalized'.
Also, local NBC affiliate just showed a clip of an interview with Ben and family, which is to be on the TODAY show tomorrow.
Devlin might of used a gun to shoot another boy & Shawn might have seen him kill a kid .
I am 100% for the 2nd ammendment still though !

If Devlin used a gun, which I think isn't his thing... because he didn't seem to fear physical extortion. Given his beating Shawn in the apartment! I'm just saying, a gun isn't his MO. In my humblest of opinions.
I'm not local, but I agree with your take. Why haven't anyone but his attorneys shown up to the party?
They don't necessarily know about Devlin, but they are distancing themselves from the situation.
That is my opinion.
It depends on the family situation. We go to our family every holiday, but would never expect them to show up at our home at any other time of the year. Nothing sinister, it is just the way it is.
We love them, are loyal to them, but to have them show up is wierd.
Thanks for the tip, but one I won't be up that early and 2, I can't imagine a world where I would watch the Today show.

OK, thanks for the info. 20 minutes from Richwoods could be halfway to Kirkwood, almost - or it could be Meramec Caverns, going west from there instead.
I think some FReepers either live near there - Sullivan or Stanton - or are from there, originally. I know I've talked about old Rte66 with someone here.
Perhaps the land is in Jefferson County. I only found one Devlin landowner which was questionable as to ID. Raintree Forest? Well, I hope they are searching that property.
Thank heavens for Ben's school bus *guardian angel* who noted the truck details. It's spooky to contemplate Shawn getting older, Devlin getting a job at a funeral home, having rural vacant property not far away, kidnapping a younger child ... not good.
What was THAT story about???
Bottom line is that I'm glad the boys are safe and sound and their captor is behind bars.
