If the Iranian government, through its official consolates and embassy in the country is actively working to help our enemies...then that it an act of war and should be treated as such forthwith without any small talk.
Maybe they finally realize that the only way to succeed in Iraq is to take Iran on directly and openly. There's at least an even chance that, faced with the real threat of force from the US, Iran will back down.
Just a scosh late, tho.
wake me when things get series.
Didn't this ah announce that he was running for President again? What a loser!
It's about time that we pulled off the kid gloves and got serious. I also noted that the C.I.A. was given authorization to take on Hizbollah [sort of].
You said -- "Things could get serious."
I heard that there could be a war in just as short a time as three months. I hear that the Israelis are already planning on a bombing run, if the U.S. does nothing to stop Iran's nuclear capability. That bombing run would use nuclear weapons. I believe that was reported in an English paper. The Israelis say that they *will not* stand by and let Iran get the bomb. And they say that their time for action is only months away...

I get the feeling Bush tried the 'kinder, gentler' approach at the advice of the newbies (after he bounced Card). Now, I get the feeling he knows it was a mistake, and its time to play hardball once again.
I think we should arrest at least 66 iranian enemy and hold them at Club Gitmo for 444 days (at the least)!

The recent escalation should have been done two years ago. If it was, the war would be winding down now and the Rats would not control congress.
We should be already bombing Iran with our Air Force and Naval assets in place already.

Iran MUST be neutralized relative to Iraq AND general mid-east "stability".
We fired a shot across their bow...let's see how they respond.
I wish I had a nickel for every time Condi said we weren't going to stand idly by, and then we stood idly by anyway. Particularly with North Korea.
If the Democrats would have supported troops in Iraq, the Iranian threat would have been resolved already.
Now, Israel is justifiably very nervous and the U.S. should be too. The problem, how to get U.S. involvement against Iran without the political headache. Answer, allow the military to do their job in an offensive stance. This forces Iran and Syria to either back-off and let Iraq cool off, which provides Bush more political wiggle room on military options for Iran. Or, end up in offensive action in Syria and Iran on terrorist support bases that would then cause a military reaction by Iran and Syria that would justify escalating the U.S. response towards Iranian offensive military sites including nuclear sites for the end-game.
This would keep Israel out of the action, maintaining hopes that the entire middle east would not conflagarate. But either way, Iran would not be nuclear in the coming years.
