Why even give a speech? Everything he seems to want to tell us has already been leaked out.

I've mentioned the Vietnam analogy before. As to "anti-war passions" tell the nincompoop reporter to get back to us when 500,000 antiwar protestors take over Washington DC, as they did when Nixon invaded Cambodia.
That was passion and BTW Nixon followed HIS policy anyway.

"The president said Iraq must meet its responsibilities, too but he put no deadlines on Baghdad to do so. "America's commitment is not open-ended," he was to say. "If the Iraqi government does not follow through on its promises, it will lose the support of the American people and it will lose the support of the Iraqi people."

Go after all the hot spots in Iraq, starting with Sadr city and bomb the cr@^ out of each province until the opposition is wiped out. NO mercy. We should have had this attitude all the way through...don't hamstring the military, just let them clean house. If Iraq president doesn't like it, call a press conference and announce that we are facing opposition from the people we're trying to help and give him a choice: support our efforts to help you or we're out and we're not leaving anything behind!

Thanks for starting the thread. God Bless our President and the United States Military!!

"America's commitment is not open-ended,"
But perhaps it should be. We hung around long enough in Germany and Japan to make sure that the sacrifices of our servicemen and woman were not rendered meaningless.
To: STARWISE
the AP article wasted no time using the word "bloodshed" in the first sentence.

Why even give a speech? Everything he seems to want to tell us has already been leaked out. Are you serious? This is a speech for the country, the world, our military, but to those that are not that politically engaged to read anything that has leaked. Besides, he needs to go on TV and say it directly to the people rather than have the biased media interpret (i.e., skew) what his plan is.
