Exactly. The National Guardsmen have unloaded weapons and no ammunition.

Same reason why my son guarded and walked the perimeter of a large armor and weapons depot in Germany as a soldier in the US Army back just prior to his shipping out to Saudi Arabia in the first Gulf War.

They don't want some soldier causing an international incident.

The Guardsmen should sue the United States Government for placing them in mortal danger without the ability to defend themselves...while WEARING A MILITARY UNIFORM.
