NEW YORK (Billboard) - Rumours are swirling that the Police will reunite for 2007 dates in England and the United States, which would be the rock trio's first since disbanding in 1986.

Sources told Billboard.com the reports -- in the British press -- were legitimate, but they would not publicly comment until final details are nearer to completion.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the release of "Roxanne," the single that broke the Police in the United States.

The Police - Walking In Your Footsteps Lyrics
Fifty million years ago
You walked upon the planet so,
Lord of all that you could see
Just a little bit like me,

Walking in your footsteps,
Walking in your footsteps.
Walking in your footsteps,
Walking in your footsteps.

Hey Mr. Dinosaur
You really couldn't ask for more.
You were God's favorite creature,
But you didn't have a future,

Walking in your footsteps,
Walking in your footsteps.
Walking in your footsteps,
Walking in your footsteps.

Hey there mighty brontosaurus
Don't you have a message for us.
You thought your rule would always last
There were no lessons in your past.
You were built three stories high
They say you would not hurt a fly
If we explode the atom bomb,
Would they say that we were dumb.

Walking in your footsteps,
Walking in your footsteps.
Walking in your footsteps,
Walking in your footsteps.

Fifty million years ago
They walked upon the planet so
They live in a museum
It's the only place you'll see 'em.

Walking in your footsteps

They say the meek shall inherit the earth....
They say the meek shall inherit the earth....

Walking in your footsteps

Would be nice, but everything from syncronicity & beyond sucked.

Only reunion tour I ever wanted to see was the Eagles. Nobody figured it would ever happen. Sure enough it did and I was EIGHT MONTHS PREGNANT when they came here. So much for that concert.

There was no "beyond" from the Police. Synchronicity was their last album together.

I'll bet Copeland won't be speeding things up now, he's too refined! That's
something he commented on in an interview I read, he would always play too
fast, and it would piss Sting off.

Drummers are always trying to go faster. They think it's impressive.

And suddenly I'm 14 again.

Welcome news, if true.

Official Statement (or non-statement) from Sting.com:
"As the 30th anniversary of the first Police single approaches, discussions have been underway as to how this will be commemorated. While we can confirm that there will indeed be something special done to mark the occasion, the depth of the band's involvement still remains undetermined."

I have a feeling Mr. Sting won't do it...the others are game.

Sting should have stuck to playing the bass. As soon as he tried to play guitar and go solo, his music went seriously downhill. Come on, "fields of barley?"

"In this theater that I call my soul, I always play the starring roll!"

Police and Genesis in the same year. Is it too much for one man to ask? (OK I would prefer Genesis with Peter Gabriel, but I'll take what I can get)
