Bangalore Jan 6: A suspected militant from Jammu and Kashmir was arrested on the city outskirts early on Friday, foiling plans to attack the airport and Bangalore's information technology showpiece Infosys Technologies Limited.
"Police have foiled a conspiracy to attack the airport and Infosys," Chief Minister H D Kumarawamy said. Acting on a tip off, a Bangalore police team intercepted a private bus coming from Hospet in Bellary district at Jalahalli in the early hours on Friday and nabbed the suspected terrorist, who disclosed his name as Imran alias Bilal, aged about 32.
IGP K R Srinivasan said on searching his bags, one AK-47 assault rifle, 300 rounds of ammunition, four AK-47 magazines, SIM cards, a satellite phone and a few documents, were found. A map of Bangalore city with marking of some locations, including the airport and Infosys, was also found in his possession by the police team, which included senior police officers.
Srinivasan and Bangalore City Police Commissioner Neelam Achyut Rao said police were investigating as to whether the suspected terrorist had actually boarded the bus from Hospet, or he came from elsewhere, and he was to be joined by associates later. Srinivasan did not rule out the possibility of arrest of his associates.

Palestinians Brace for Civil War
January 06, 2007
GAZA -- A politically-moderate Muslim cleric, who has spoken out against the extremism of Hamas, was shot dead on Friday just after giving a sermon that called for a ceasefire between members of Hamas and Fatah.
The well-regarded Imam, Adel Nasar, was shot as he got into a car in central Gaza, according to reports. Nasar, who was in a car when the gunmen opened fire, was not affiliated to any faction. No group claimed responsibility for the shooting, which occurred after prayers at a mosque in the Maghazi refugee camp. The religious leader was 50-years old.
The assassination comes only 24 hours after seven Fatah men were killed during the bloodiest fight in weeks of sectarian fighting. Those killed in Thursday's bloody attack included Colonel Mohammed Ghayeb, a top Fatah official in northern Gaza. Six body guards were also killed and his wife was wounded when Hamas gunmen besieged the colonel's home.
REAL LIFE OPINION: ATTENTION ALL UNITS: IF ISRAEL IS GOING TO ATTACK IRAN; THEY ARE NOT GOING TO TELL ALL THEIR "SECRET PLANS" TO THE LAME STREAM MEDIA. That's all. Carry on.

Sunday Times - Israel has plans for nuclear strike on Iran
Published: 01.07.07, 01:36
Israel has drawn up secret plans to destroy Iran's uranium enrichment facilities with tactical nuclear weapons, Britain's Sunday Times newspaper reports.
Citing what it said were several Israeli military sources, the paper said two Israeli air force squadrons had been training to blow up an enrichment plant in Natanz using low-yield nuclear "bunker busters". Two other sites, a heavy water plant at Arak and a uranium conversion plant at Isfahan, would be targeted with conventional bombs, the Sunday Times said. (Reuters)
Another plot foiled.
Grinning at the good news.

I agree, Israel is not going to give advance warning of their plans. Sheesh.
I agree.
I caught your "mindless vandals."
So, it's time for a little chart:
Youths
Children
Vandals
Mindless Vandals
Ok, I think that's how it stands now.
JERUSALEM Palestinians in the Gaza Strip today announced the formation of what they say is a new "resistance" group to carry out attacks against the United States, Israel and Iran in the name of executed former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
The new purported organization, the Saddam Hussein Martyrs Brigades, will "hit America, Israel, Iran and all the traitors to our people," according to a pamphlet distributed today in the densely populated Gaza Strip city of Khan Yunis and obtained by WND.

An Albanian man who threatened to explode a bomb at Budapest's Ferihegy International Airport was given a six-month suspended sentence and banned from entering Hungary for three years, reports Financial Times. The man, an Albanian national, was expelled from Norway and was accompanied by two Norwegian police officers when he arrived at the Budapest airport en route to Tirana, Albania. On arrival in Budapest, the man slipped away from his police guard and attempted to board a plane for Kiev, Ukraine. The airport personnel attempted to prevent him from entering the wrong plane at which point the man threatened them with a bomb explosion.
Passengers from both the Tirana and the Kiev planes were forced to disembark for a luggage check as well as an inspection of the aircraft. No explosives were found. The two planes departed an hour and a half late, while the Albanian man, whose name was not released, was taken into custody. He is held in the airport detention facility belonging to the Hungarian border police.

Released terror suspect granted asylum in Albania
Saturday, January 6, 2007
CAIRO (AP)--Two Egyptians have been released from the U.S. military prison in Guantanamo Bay and one requested not to return home, Egypt's interior ministry said Friday. The two detainees were not identified, but the state-run MENA news agency said that one had arrived in Egypt while the second had been granted asylum in Albania.
"Egypt's diplomatic effort succeeded in the release of two out of five Egyptians in Guantanamo," Egyptian newspapers quoted Abdulaziz Seif al-Nasr, the deputy foreign minister for legal and counterterrorism affairs, as saying. The released detainee who chose to go to Albania "has the right to return home whenever he wants," Seif al-Nasr said.
Egyptian authorities did not disclose when or why the two men were held at the Guantanamo Bay naval base in southern Cuba, where U.S. authorities have held more than 750 people suspected of links to terrorism since 2002. An official from Egypt's interior ministry declined to say whether the two released men were being investigated for ties to Islamic militant groups, but said that "the former Guantanamo inmate (who returned to Egypt) is still in custody." Seif al-Nasr said that Egypt would continue its efforts to release the remaining three Egyptians still held at the naval base.

Well, this is just a personal opinion, but jihadi funds seem to be running low and the messages by Zawahiri and Mullah Omar and GSPC, etc. seem to be their efforts to pump up the base and to let the jihad base and supporters that they are still alive.
Of course, here on TM we know that jihad is global and jihadis are global.
We know that the internet ties these groups together into one "global community." We know they hate us. We believe that they will attack us if they have the means and opportunity to do so.
Disclaimer: I could be wrong.

It's past the five-year mark. We've been pretty successful at thwarting attacks until now. I just don't feel comfortable with the rats in charge and Rummy gone. It seems like there are no more tough Republicans on the Hill with any fight left in them and that worries me.
