Thanks for posting this info. When the Southern wall was in danger of collapsing (due to Islamic "renovations") I feared the Mount would collapse under the weight of all the Muslim worshippers--and Israel would get blamed. That "renovation" work continues to undermine the stability of this site from yet another direction!

The propriety of building the bridge aside (a huge aside), an aerial bridge seems like a tempting target for snipers, as they would know who was on it.
Yeah...I was thinking if they just removed some of the heavy layers at the top....

With all the "renovations" being done on the Mount, it is amazing that the whole thing doesn't collapse.
Still laugh about a professor I used to know, who would follow the dump trucks off the Mount and dig through the stuff to find some really great stuff. Now a days, that would get you shot.

There is a specific dump where that was all placed and sifted.
The PhD candidates who started the project of sifting through the "renovation debris" have finally gone legit in late 2006, and have Israeli Antiquities Authority authorization to continue their work. Only took 5 or 6 years and the discovery of significant finds to push the Israeli authorities to face reailty that the Wahf is destroying Jewish history.
Th Israelis should announce in no uncertain terms, that for each round of sniper fire directed at the bridge (or persons on the bridge), a round of 120mm HE will be directed at the Al-Aqsa mosque.

In reality, Olmert will apologize for the bridge and offer reparations to the paleostinians for their suffering.
