I have these bulbs all over my house. The only place I don't have them in is my dining room where there is a dimmer switch. I bought several four packs of varying wattages at Home Depot for around $12 each.
Just curious. Why can't these be used with a dimmer switch?
I bought a bunch of them when Lowes put them on clearance for 6 bucks for a pack of 5. I also picked some up at a buck a piece, and am always looking for clearance items like this.
I use them in almost all my light fixtures, except my 3-way reading lamps (although I did replace MY lamp with a 150-watt equivalent for my own reading).
I left a couple of old bulbs in my bathrooms with the new bulbs in multi-bulb fixtures just to get a more natural light.
My next set of bulbs will be LED bulbs, I hope. My brother just got into a sales organization pushing energy-efficient lighting for businesses.

Now I'm really confused. Four bulbs in a pack for $12 equals $3 each. Incandescent bulbs cost about $1 a pack of four, or twenty-five cents each. That makes the fluorescent bulbs twelve times higher than incandescent. The article says eights times higher. What am I missing?
Same with me. I just can't pass up the $3.00 per bulb price (sometimes less).
Anyway, I went searching online for different kinds of CFB's to see if there were any even smaller sizes designed to fit in the small sconces of ceiling fans. Havent found those yet, but did find a section on dimmable CFB's. Here's the link if you're interested.
