WASHINGTON Gerald R. Ford leaves his beloved U.S. Capitol for the last time Tuesday as the period set aside for ordinary Americans to say goodbye gives way to an elaborate invitation-only funeral at the awe-inspiring Washington National Cathedral.
As the first order of business Tuesday, Ford's remains were being removed from the Rotunda to lie in repose briefly outside the Senate before leaving the Capitol where Ford served as a congressman for 25 years. As vice president, Ford also had the constitutional title of president of the Senate.

Amen!
I've not seen it. I was a little girl of five the only time I toured D.C.
I heard this morning on FN that President Ford and Tom Brokaw had become friends after Ford left the WH. It was Ford who asked Brokaw to speak at his funeral. Can we now leave the subject?
There are many other pictures .. I was afraid of over doing it on the thread, so I only picked a few
Great shot of slick willie licking his fingers and then dabbing under his eyes. snicker snort!
Thank you, Bahbah.
:) I love the old hymns the best. Alleluia, Alleluia...
And now, I'm off to get things done..ugghh.
Gerald Ford RIP..sw
Bubba will have drums and a guitar for his funeral. Probably a saxophone version of God Bless America, too.

Probably a rip-roaring Harlem funeral.
I'm totally tech challenged, to say the least.
There you go.
I hear you. She's holding up --- like Mrs. Reagan held up, until she really cried at his gravesite. That last good-by.... I think Mrs. Ford thinks he's still "with" her right now and that she is accompanying him, which she is.

Using the word "separation" when discussing religion and government is as dishonest as using "gay" for ...
Nope, he was really belting it out.
I can't believe Ol' Slick allowed himself to get caught doing that in front of the camera. He must have been distracted, perhaps showing Hillary how it's done. "Now looky here, you lick yer fingers and then put it to your eyes...oh damn! The camera caught me!"
Very well spoken. I love the Washington Cathedral -- it is so beautiful and wonderful to see and hear the hymns that sound so beautiful. All in all it was a wonderful reflection on Pres Ford and his Christian values.
