WASHINGTON Gerald R. Ford leaves his beloved U.S. Capitol for the last time Tuesday as the period set aside for ordinary Americans to say goodbye gives way to an elaborate invitation-only funeral at the awe-inspiring Washington National Cathedral.
As the first order of business Tuesday, Ford's remains were being removed from the Rotunda to lie in repose briefly outside the Senate before leaving the Capitol where Ford served as a congressman for 25 years. As vice president, Ford also had the constitutional title of president of the Senate.

I was in a U.S. government office last Friday where there were some gov't workers making a big joke about it. "Oh, poor Gerald Ford, boo hoo hoo," they went on mockingly. It was disgusting.

I heard the post office is closed today?? Why? Why are we forced to pay all those employees for sitting home watching tv??? How is that honoring Prez Ford? What kind of stupid excuse to give a day off is that? They're as bad as teachers! Makes me so mad......Yes it is closed. I went earlier this morning to our post office to mail some letters and there was a sign at the door that the post office is closed in honor of President Bush. I found that rather unnecessary, (not the honoring part) but he didn't have anything to do with the postal service to my understanding

They thought they were doing it for BUSH??

President Bush escorting Mrs. Ford down the central aisle.
They are walking very slowly.
She looks very frail and tiny.
To: Mo1
What a moving moment. The President escorts Mrs. Ford, with the organ lightly refraining "America the Beautiful"....Congregation standing.
Tears here.
To: Right_in_Virginia
Oh, our President George W. Bush is escorting Mre. Ford. I'll never forget this...
To: Mo1
It sure is, Mo. The music has been exceptionally beautiful, IMO.
