Report should be cure for nostalgia for Clinton crew
Free Press ^ | December 27,2006

Posted on 12/27/2006 4:00:46 AM PST by IrishMike

Although Democrats enjoy impugning the integrity of the current president and his administration, the ethical lows achieved by his predecessor, Bill Clinton, and his motley crew of senior advisers still cast the current administration, for all its foibles, in a favorable light. And just in case the soft mists of fading memories have lulled some Americans into bouts of misplaced nostalgia for the Clinton gang, along comes former national security adviser Sandy Berger to remind us of how “ethically challenged” they were. Berger a year ago pleaded guilty to the theft of classified documents from the National Archives, receiving a slap on the wrist for acts that would have a landed a non-Washington insider in the slammer. But a new report from the archive’s inspector general provides the most detailed account yet of what happened. “Berger took the documents in the fall of 2003 while working to prepare himself and Clinton administration witnesses for testimony to the Sept. 11 commission,” according to the AP. “Berger was authorized as the Clinton administration’s representative to make sure the commission got the correct classified materials.”

Whether authorized to do so, Berger also seems to have been involved in an attempt to purge documents that reflected poorly on himself or the administration. According to the IG’s report, National Archives personnel saw Berger stuffing something in his socks. Although they at first hesitated “to confront someone of Berger’s stature,” and he initially denied the thefts, he eventually fessed-up under questioning. During a break in his “research,” Berger hid the purloined documents under a construction trailer outside the building; he then retrieved them under cover of darkness. Though the documents were destroyed, archive officials say they believe they know what they were because Berger was being watched, based on earlier suspicions that he was stealing documents.

It will be fun to watch her attempt a campaign without that temper manifesting itself.

and as Rush has suggested, Hillary should be called on to answer for Sandy Burglar's misdeeds at every news and speaking event. This was her husband's administration and these are her cronies. Get ready for more of the same if the American people do something as stupid as putting her into the highest office in the land.

Yep... weren't they touted "Co-Presidents"?

Watch how she will attempt to dodge questions about ethical lapses by saying it was "her husband's administration".

"Hillary should be called upon..": Perhaps equally as importantly, so should Scowcroft. This is a PDF, Google "Scowcroft, Berger." Note how cute they are disguising him as "Samuel R. Berger,"which is how I heard it in summer '05, while Berger was awaiting the sentence from the judge, which I believe was actually harsher than DOJ wanted him to get away with:www.cfr.org/content/publications/attachments/Scowcroft_Berger.pdf

Hillary has the media as her friend, to avoid the tough questions that every politician should answer. And she has her talking points. I don't think she comes across well or intelligent. Whoever is her opponent in the general election(Please let it be Hunter!), I hope they call her out on the tough questions(Hillary healthcare, her partner in crime's statements and stance on Iraq and lack of action with al Qaeda).

And yet just about every Gerald Ford obituary refers to how he succeeded a "disgraced" or "scandal-ridden" Richard Nixon. Compared to Billdo Klintoon, Nixon was a Sunday school teacher who went straight home to take care of his ailing mother and knitted sweaters for his family because she no longer could.

Hiding documents under a trailer ....

That was inadvertent, or so we were told. A paper handling snafu. Like collecting FBI files on your polictical opponents. Just another snafu. Woops. Like taking bribes for pardons, woops. Like selling technology to the chinese army for campaign funds. Woops.

If any MSM reporter has any nuts Hitlery is in big trouble.

"Watch how she will attempt to dodge questions about ethical lapses by saying it was "her husband's administration"."

They floated the "Hillary as Victim" trial balloon a couple of years ago. I believe that after realizing it was too early to pull off, they regrouped and will try it again in the next couple of months.

It would seem that Obamamania has taken the spotlight off Hillary which to her camp is a good thing. As long as she can hide she is safe. Democrats are good at that. They pulled it off beautifully in 2006.

IMHO, I don't see Her Heiness doing much in the primaries. I see her more in the role as party unifier with the minimum amount of air time and the maximum amount of funding. She will not be involved in any debates and she will have her 527's doing all the hitman work for her.

I don't think the Heinous Harridan will settle of anything less than dictator, ala Eva Peron.

Wouldn't it be fun if both the Heinous Harridan and McQueeg lost it on the same day? McQueeg is so unstable that he won't be able to go through a whole campaign without blowing a gasket. The Heinous One is so vile and evil, that she will lose it during one of her shrieking screeds.
