President Bush held a news conference this morning in the Indian Treaty Room at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington, D.C. Click HERE for a complete transcript.
Later, the president signed The Tax Relief and Health Care Act of 2006, a bill that will extend tax relief to millions of American families and small businesses and add momentum to a growing economy. Click HERE for a complete transcript of the presidents remarks.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met with Andrew Natsios, U.S. special envoy to Sudan and Darfur, at the State Department.
And Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, along with Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman, General Peter Pace made a surprise visit to Baghdad where they met with troops and commanders to discuss future options in Iraq.

YES! The Red Velvet Cake and it turned out PERFECT and I mean perfect. I am so pleased!
Q Thank you, Mr. President. If you conclude that a surge in troop levels in Iraq is needed, would you overrule your military commanders if they felt it was not a good idea?
President Bush: That's a dangerous hypothetical question. I'm not condemning you, you're allowed to ask anything you want. Let me wait and gather all the recommendations from Bob Gates, from our military, from diplomats on the ground; I'm interested in the Iraqis' point of view; and then I'll report back to you as to whether or not I support a surge or not. Nice try.
If you guys have what I had over Thanksgiving, it will take at least two weeks to get rid of it, and your coughs may linger longer. The only benefit was that I finally had the impetus to quit smoking, which I have done.
Jonny collected a package from the sorting office - thank you so much have put it under the tree.
First pix in 18..look of disgust ...as in .."here I go to meet with the Idiots & clowns again"
Sure, I'll work on that...
If someone posted a recipe I missed it..could you or ANYONE post the link?
I think I overdid the colouring I used a special paste with the colour of Christmas red and even though I only put a quarter of what snarling said it still came out very red.
Have to learn how to use this special food colouring properly
Will email it to you in a few minutes it is a red and white cake same meaning as the candy cane of the blood and purity of Christ.

I would have never pegged your for a smoker. Congratulations! I was so happy and proud of myself after I quit.
Yep, I'm certain we have the same type of nasty cold/flu you had at Thanksgiving --- it's lingering and my poor husband is awfully sick --- very weak and totally congested. I am usually happy to laze around, but this is getting tiresome. I still need to take Contact capsules so I can breathe.
I know what it is.. I LOVE IT.. never made it or had the recipe.. It was big time in NC when I lived there. The dessert of choice for dinner parties
thank you
I will be happy to send you the recipe in FR mail.
Oh dear...you and Mr. onyx aren't better??
We may have have Santa and his elves deliver you guys a private nurse and doctor to come get you two back on your feet!!
President Bush: The most painful aspect of my presidency has been knowing that good men and women have died in combat. I read about it every night. My heart breaks for a mother or father, or husband or wife, or son and daughter; it just does. And so when you ask about pain, that's pain. I reach out to a lot of the families, I spend time with them. I am always inspired by their spirit. Most people have asked me to do one thing, and that is to make sure that their child didn't die in vain -- and I agree with that -- that the sacrifice has been worth it.We'll accomplish our objective; we've got to constantly adjust our tactics to do so. We've got to insist that the Iraqis take more responsibility more quickly in order to do so.
But I -- look, my heart breaks for them, it just does, on a regular basis.
***We ended up in agreement.***
GOOD FOR YOU!
Great pics of the President today. Neat room. Thanks again Jonny.
Red is wonderful! Don't worry. I wish I had a camera and the know how to post a pic of mine. Mine is red too --- I use the Wilton colors and they're the best I have found. I got them when I took their cake decorating course 4 or 5 years ago.
