((((PING))))))
As far as Rudy being a liberal (and yes, he is a LIBERAL--you can put whatever spin on it you like)....he worked on Bobby Kennedy's campaign in '64 (remeber my earlier post?), before endorsing George McGovern,,,and later, Mario Cuomo,,,and then defending Slick!!! Yep, no liberal leanings there at all!! /s
You can SPIN that any way you like--but in my book, if that doesn't qualify you as a liberal (I can mention several of his political positions too, if you like), exactly WHAT do you have to do, or WHO do you have to side with politically???
Take care,,,and enjoy your 'NEW' Republican Party.
"Take care,,,and enjoy your 'NEW' Republican Party."
Don't let the door hit ya in the backside! See ya at the Rapture!
And by the way, it'll be the republican party as it always was before it sold it's...ahem... soul... to the God/Guns/Gays coalition for electoral victory. I guess those Constitutional Amendments to put prayer back in the schools, outlaw abortion on demand, and shoot homosexuals on sight are all threatened by a return to a more liberal republican party, huh? Oh, that's right! none of those things ever came to fruition, did they? So I guess those two decades of religious folks and "culture warriors" (P.S. Bill O'Reilly AIN'T one of them) siding with the republican party worked real well, huh?
Get used to it: what you advocate (on the social front)can never sell to the vast majority of the voting public. That's a sad fact of life. Perhaps if you pray harder it'll happen. Let me know how that works out, okay?
Reagan was originally a Democrat, supporting Franklin D. Roosevelt and his New Deal throughout the economically ravaged and war-torn 1930s and early 1940s. In the late 1940s, he was still a Democrat of firm convictions, one of the most visible speakers in the country defending President Harry S. Truman. Does that mean he never should have been president even though he changed? Why is it okay for Reagan and not for Rudy?
P.S. Nice job of trying to trivialize and dilute the meaning of the term liberal. Is this some new version of moral relativism,,,,ie political relativism???
Everyone knows what the term liberal means. Thats why even democrats run like SCARED RATS (no pun intended) from the dreaded term liberal. Even John Kerry tried to disassociate and distance himself from that term stating, Labels like that are meaningless. Yarite. Youre not Kerrys speechwriter by any chance, are you? If not, with your spin on that term--you missed your calling.
Have a nice day.
The Democratic Party of the 40's and even 50's---bared no resemblence to the Democratic Party of the 60's,,,none at all. In the 60's, the Party went off the far left deep end (kind of like what the Republican Party is starting to trend towards now).
Well that's not what some Freepers think of FDR - They consider him a socialist!
But on national defense, even the democrats were strong pro-military in the 40's and 50's.
Ummm... Yes.
stocks, get yourself some edumakation. The United States of America was founded by LIBERALS, upon LIBERAL ideas, and is perpetuated by LIBERAL means. Amongst these are: government by consent, free markets, equality under the law, and a panoply of individual rights advanced and protected by a Constitution (P.S. Britain, probably considered by many here as liberal a place as there is in Europe, doesn't even HAVE a constitution, so what does that tell you?)
As a conservative (or what you believe a conservative to be. It's far more than Reagan worship, owning a bazooka, and attending church 8 times a week), what you ultimately stand to defend was created by LIBERAL forces.
This is historical fact. Once more, I urge you to look it up --- if you can put your bible down long enough to pick up a reputable history book.
I would recommend that you study history and political science before you wade into these debates, because you have definitly arrived at this battle of wits completely unarmed.
Well I can't argue with that. Although there were a few groups against the war but you didn't hear much about them because the press was not going to talk about it. I've seen some anti-war old newsreels from that era. Very interesting to watch.
Even the movies from Hollywood in the 40's were strongly supportive of the military and the war effort. Hollywood and the Democratic Party BOTH went off the deep end in the 60's! So sad.
I think Rudy would be OK for a cabinet position in Hunters presidency.
Where did you get that letter, to begin with, so that you could CCP it to FR?
The pictures that are posted to FR, with Rudy in costume, come from a fund raising, POLITICAL show, that ALL mayors have performed in, for many decades. One of the usually posted pictures comes from his recreation of one of the skits, on SNL, when he was asked to do so. Why don't you ever post the picture of him, when he rode onto the stage on a motorcycle and sung a political satire to the tune of a song from "GREASE"? Is it because that wouldn't help your specious postings?
Chicago and other cities, also have such shows. The one in Chicago takes place at Christmas time and all of the BIG GUN lawyers and some politicos also join in. This one and the one that takes place in N.Y.C. were NOT, until quite recently, public knowledge. They are professionally done and spoof politicians and popular culture.
They shows have NOTHING whatsoever to do with homosexuality! They have been part of American culture, since colonial times and have been part of exclusive boarding schools' ( both single sexed and co-ed ) and colleges history, down to today. The name of these shows are "HAIRY LEG SHOWS"; look it up...if you don't believe me.
Like it or NOT, you are spreading libel. Rudy was NEVER a part of STONEWALL; not in any way, manner, or form.
Keep up that 'spinning'. You might even be able to convince yourself! Maybe you could even convince some democrats to campaign flauntly that wonderful label (that they try so hard to avoid)! Keep up the good work!
Read from that link down. That is not the only post.
,,flaunting
Wow, it must suck being a pseudoconservative, and wrong in your opinion that Rudy has majority supprt at FR.
Who is that college kid who said you can't have a wrong opinion last week? I have a perfect example in Tories post.
But, it's the ONLY thing, they've "got", I guess.
